Men urged to talk about cancer in swim briefs run
Mike RichardsDozens of men have taken part in a fun run dressed in swimming briefs in a bid to get them talking about cancer, organisers have said.
Cancer charity Male Uprising Guernsey held the Budgy Fun Run which followed a 5km (3.1 mile) course from St Peter Port on Saturday.
Mike Richards, from the charity, said he hoped the event would raise awareness of cancers affecting men, including prostate and testicular.
More than 60 people took part in the run with thousands raised in aid of the charity.
Richards had said women were also invited to run in swimsuits, adding: "We'll run in numbers, and we'll be confident together."
He said the loop-shaped course followed a "beautiful, scenic route" starting at La Vallette Bathing Pools.
Richards said a serious message came with the run – that men "need to be aware of the different types of cancers, we need to talk about it, and no better way than holding an event like this to have those conversations".
He added: "Women are brilliant at talking about these things, their health.
"Men, not so much, but we're getting better and particularly in Guernsey, we're really, really improving."
