Car cruising protection order extended
Bolsover District CouncilA protection order aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour linked to car cruising in part of Nottinghamshire has been extended.
The Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), covering areas including Gedling Access Road and the Trent Valley in Gedling, has been in place since 2023.
Gedling Borough Council has now extended the order for a further three years, starting on 23 June.
It will make it an offence to participate in organised car cruise events where activities such as racing, dangerous driving, excessive noise and vehicle stunts take place.
Anyone found in breach of the order - including drivers, passengers, or spectators - may face enforcement action, including a fine.
John Clarke, leader of Gedling Borough Council, said: "We are proud to extend this Public Space Protection Order as a strong step towards protecting our communities from the disruption and dangers caused by car cruising.
"Residents deserve to feel safe and secure in their neighbourhoods, and this demonstrates our commitment to taking firm action where it's needed."
