The Legend of Charlotte Dymond It was a cold, gloomy Sunday on the 14th April, when our tale begins. On that very dismal night Charlotte Dymond spent her last few hours at home, not knowing what would become of her in the next few days...... Her husband Matthew, saw her last and led the police to her favourite part of the clearing. They had found only puddles on the wet ground and cold morning dew on the grass. That very morning Charlotte's mangled body was found in a heap at the bottom of "Old Mansion Drive's" riverbank. Matthew went pearly white , looking clearly distraught at the sight of her mangled body, but shed no tears of sadness. Instead he raced home to share the heartbreaking news with friends and family. The police however had 3 suspects of who the deadly murderer of Charlotte could be. The owners of "Old Mansion Drive" - the elderly couple Mr and Mrs Thomas - were enjoying a quiet afternoon when the police marched in, showing their legal rights to search the property for clues. They searched the distraught couples house for hours on end until they finally gave up having not found anything. P.C. Todd decided to take them to the local police station to be questioned more thoroughly. Mr Thomas asked if they could leave from the back of the house to avoid causing commotion. P.C. Todd thanked the old people for their time and they all left through the back of the house. When they did this they found Matthew with Charlotte's body next to him!! Matthew ran for his life with P.C. Todd and Mr and Mrs Thomas chasing him. He ran through a wood of many trees and came upon a hospital building. From there he climbed to the top and threw himself off. He was injured and P. C. Todd called through his walkie-talkie "assistance required at hospital L33". The police laid Charlotte's body to rest and made Matthew suffer with his punishment. He was eventually hung for the murder of his innocent wife. People still claim to see Charlotte in her blood-red shawl and her white silk bonnet whispering "Why Matthew, why?" |
