Today will be mainly cloudy and windy with heavy, showery rain on the mainland. A risk of thunder. Cloudy skies on the Isles, with spells of rain in Shetland and lighter rain in Orkney.

Tonight

Windy and cloudy tonight with further spells of rain, before turning lighter and patchier in the early hours. Cloud breaking up from the west towards dawn. The winds will ease as well.

Thursday

Tomorrow will see some lingering showers at first, especially on the mainland, but it will then turn drier for all with sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. Gentle winds.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday

Friday will see sunny spells and patchy cloud on the mainland, with the odd shower across the west. The Isles will be largely cloudy with outbreaks of rain. Similar conditions on Saturday, but with stronger winds, and it will cloud over in the afternoon, with heavy rain in the evening. Sunday will see the rain clear to leave sunny spells and scattered, blustery showers.
