So, here's how things stand as the Premier League breaks for a three-week international break. What are we going to do with ourselves?

Manchester City sit three points clear at the top of the table and will be buzzing to get back.

Some teams, maybe less so.

Fulham

Fulham defender Calvin Bassey speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a frustrating game, I thought we did a lot of things right. We couldn't find the second goal. We had periods when we didn't have the ball and were fighting, getting blocks in. Obviously they had a bit of luck and got the deflection for the goal.

"It was probably a good game to watch for the fans, but it's frustrating. We are improving. Three or four more minutes and we would have had our first win. It was a game of luck, we both had it on our side. It is what it is."

Fulham

Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I'm upset because we were so close, very unlucky with the goal we conceded. It is what it is, we need to keep working and improving. We knew this month would be difficult against top teams. I think we are in a good way.

"Both goalkeepers did good saves, many chances for both teams, two strange goals. Obviously we are upset to concede at the end.

"Calvin [Bassey] is one of the best at the back in the Premier League, he plays at a high level with and without the ball. He is doing so good.

"We have young payers but also players with experience, like Sander [Berge] and Alex [Iwobi]. We have a good mix.

"We want points, that's the most important thing, but I think my players are working hard and open to learn. They are playing in the way we want to play. If we continue playing this way the victories will come.

"We now have three weeks without many players, some stay here and we will work with them. When they come back we will start again."

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick speaking to BBC Sport: "I think we did enough to win the game. I think we could win it. It was an unfortunate own goal but for the most part we were good. Their goalkeeper has made top saves, on another day we could have two or three goals. I was pleased with how we responded, the boys kept their belief and kept doing the right things. I think a point is the least we should take."

On Fulham's goal: "I think it was maybe a foul on Matheus [Cunha] first, there's an argument for that. The shot has come through someone and it has happened quite quickly. Quite a few moments like that have been going against us. Thankfully we have still taken something small from the game."

On the 'noise' around Manchester United and if it bothers him: "No, what bothers me is that we want better results. We want more points, we're going to have a spell where it's not quite going for you and we've had a spell of that where small things have ended up as big things. We don't think things are perfect by any means. We need to win football matches. The supporters were top-drawer again today and we have to give them something to keep shouting about."

Lisandro Martínez has scored three own goals in the Premier League, the joint-most of any Manchester United player (also three for Wes Brown, John O’Shea, Henning Berg, and Jonny Evans).

On the substitutions...

Mason Mount was never going to be a starter. He wants to play in Bruno Fernandes' position but that is nailed down for the best player in that team.

But they're going to play a lot of football being in the Champions League this season and it's just about getting the balance. I wanted to see Baleba but he's probably not fit enough.

For Michael Carrick's sake, it was good that he got a point.

Fulham

Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno speaking to Sky Sports: "It hurts... but there are still a lot of positive things to take from the game.

"I know Manchester United have a lot of individual quality, I have played against them for many years and know them really well. I know to be alert in case they shoot from distance. When you make some saves in the game you feel very focused. Unfortunately I couldn't keep out the goal but that is football."

On their development under Alvaro Arbeloa: "I think you could see the more we play, the more control we have. In the first couple of games we were too emotional. You can't change things in one or two months, it takes time. We are much more balanced now.

"A lot of positive things to take, and still a lot of improvement. The team is alive, it is fighting, it is running. You can see how we play and it is very positive. With our new manager and philosophy I think we will win games. Then the confidence will come."

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we should have won the game, I thought we created enough to win the game. The goal we did concede is one of them goals. The boys could have thought it is one of those days but I really like the reaction. We nearly won it in the end. We came to get the win of course, the way it panned out and the way we finished is the positive we take from it."

Why they couldn't get the victory: "I think probably their goalkeeper really. The saves that he made today - he has probably made three top saves. We have hit the post twice and had a load of opportunities. Of course we are not happy about not winning the game but there are things to take from it for sure.

On whether his team were passive: "I didn't think we were. Did you think we were? Football is a difficult game. We controlled a lot of the first half. It's the Premier League and you will have spells where you don't have it all your own way. To expect total dominance for the whole game, I don't think anyone gets that in this league."

On if he was happy with the team's energy: "Yes."

"I think we can take a lot from today. I think we can learn a lot as well. We can be better at certain things, that is pretty clear, but there were some god signs today."

I've seen enough positives from Fulham to know they will be alright this season - in particular, the whole 90 minutes, they were outstanding.

Man United were OK in bits and pieces. There is a lot to work on but I think they will be happy to go away with a point in the end.

Fulham sat in and Manchester United needed players to play quick and they didn't. It took 60 minutes for the fans to start singing. Cunha said after the goal they felt like they were on the front foot, but it's too late then.

If they played quick in the areas where they could have hurt Fulham, they could have won the game.

Manchester United accept the speed of the game, I think that's unacceptable. Fulham had more courage, finding the spot is something that should be normal.

If a player can't match the intensity of 70/80 minutes, they should be changed. You have to take the game away from the opposition, when they press they can't cope with it.

At some moments they look like a Man United side but at some points they look too comfortable.

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick says his side were not passive and he was happy with their energy levels throughout the match.

Gary Neville said on Sky Sports it was the worst 15 minutes he had ever seen United play in all the years he has been watching them.

Manchester United

Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I think we created a lot. Fulham played well also. We got our chances, if we finish them we can finish game with three points.

"Bernd Leno is always a good goalkeeper, today he was unbelievable. We have to congratulate him but also improve.

"To beat Leno today we needed a bit of luck, and I got that luck to score the goal. Maybe if it doesn't touch anyone it doesn't go in.

"It's only the beginning, to play for this shirt there is a lot of noise around. We stay very strong, we believe in our group and manager. We showed everyone how we did it last season. The only thing we can do is work more.

"When I don't win games I feel anxious to play the next one to win, the only way to improve is to train and play."

Fulham

Fulham manager Arvalo Arbeloa speaking to Sky Sports: "We were so, so close. We were a little unlucky again but we know it was going to be difficult against a big team and we have seen what the referee has been doing through the match."

On the referee: "There were so many things for them, you can see it in the foul by [Harry] Maguire. Every decision was for them. I knew after the game against Manchester City that they don't like Manchester United to lose.

"We were so, so close to our first victory that we are a little bit upset now.

"I think we did a good game. Obviously not an easy game for us, we were in the bottom position but we saw personality with the ball, we were brave. We had moments where we had to defend but in general we did a good game.

"We wanted to control the transition and the counter attacks. We know they put too many people inside so we have to control the space behind our midfielders. They sometimes found the spaces, it is a difficult match against a big team and for me they will be near the top of the league by the end of the season.

"Now we have to find the first victory. If you see our first five games we have already played Man Utd, Chelsea, at Anfield, at Sunderland. Now we have an October that will be so important for us.

"We have shown the team we want to be and if we play in this way the victories will come."

Manchester United

Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha speaking to Sky Sports: "It's frustrating for us, I feel in the beginning we put the plan in, we created some chances. We didn't score, unlucky, they scored in one action. It's hard to explain.

"After the goal, we played much better with a lot of enthusiasm and character. This needs to be from the start.

On starting slowly: "It's hard to explain, I feel after the first half we always get a lot of chances and create, play well.

"In the beginning of the second half they put in more energy than us and we cannot accept this. We always play better after conceding goal, and it cannot be like this.

"I don't think today was about final decisions, we were a bit unlucky, I hit the post, and Bruno hit the post. We need to create more and hope the luck comes and we score. We need to improve in every single position."

On who the point is bigger for...

I think Man United because they looked like they were coming away with nothing and then the manner of it [the goal]. There'll still be heat on Michael Carrick but it's now not three losses in-a-row going into the international break.

It was a big point for Fulham too - I think both sides needed it - but they'll be disappointed, and I think it's a bigger point for Manchester United.
