    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -6, Gotterup -8 (14)

To the stadium hole - the 15th - which is framed beautifully by the early evening sun.

Bob MacIntyre's and Rory McIlroy's tee shots are both safely aboard the dancefloor, but a fair way away from the hole.

Chris Gotterup is a wee bit closer as this group chase closing birdies.

  2. Three little birdiespublished at 17:53 BST

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -6, Gotterup -8 (14)

Argh, a bit too much pace on Rory McIlroy's eagle putt means it doesn't take the break and stays up.

Still, three birdies for this group - McIlroy is back level with the clubhouse leaders, with defending champion Chris Gotterup just one back.

  3. Postpublished at 17:51 BST

    M W Lee -8 (17)

    Decent going, that.

    Ferguson -2 (16)

A potentially crucial birdie for Ewen Ferguson on the 16th, moving him inside the cut line on two under.

  5. Postpublished at 17:44 BST

    McIlroy -8, MacIntyre -5, Gotterup -7 (13)

Bob MacIntyre's drive at the gettable 14th runs through the back of the green, as does Chris Gotterup's.

Rory McIlroy's tee shot is judged to perfection though and he has a great chance for eagle coming up.

    McIlroy -8, MacIntyre -5, Gotterup -7 (13)

    Jack Herrall
BBC Sport Scotland at the Renaissance Club

Adam Scott, who will play in his 101 consecutive major championship next week at The Open, is in a fight to make the cut this week.

He takes a wood out of his bag on the 14th tee and as soon as it compresses off the club face he chuckles to himself and asks it to sit to the left.

He’s running out of birdie chances to avoid packing his stuff this evening.

  11. Postpublished at 17:26 BST

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (12)

Rory McIlroy gives himself a lengthy birdie look at the 12th - it looks good the whole way, but dies just short of the hole and he taps in for par.

Bob MacIntyre got a good read off McIlroy, but can't take advantage and he too makes par.

Chris Gotterup makes it a trio of fives having also missed his birdie putt.

We now have a three-way tie for the lead.

Tom Kim makes it back-to-back birdies with a magic two on the par-three 17th.

The pin is tucked away on the left of the green behind a bunker, but his brave tee shot pays off.

  14. Postpublished at 17:19 BST

    N Hojgaard -6, Cantlay -2, Ferguson -1 (14)

Nicolai Hojgaard finds the dancefloor with a booming drive on the 14th.

Not to be outdone, Ewen Ferguson steps up and does likewise. Both players make birdie.

Patrick Cantlay - who shared the lead overnight but is struggling today - lands in the rough short left, overshoots the green with his chip and ends up with bogey.

He'll be kicking himself. At 345 yards, this short par four is playing as the easiest hole on the course today.

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (11)

The wind continues to cause problems late on day two.

From the first cut of the rough down the left, Bob MacIntyre appears to have pulled the driver from his bag.

    He’s going for this.

  17. Postpublished at 17:11 BST

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (11)

Three TV cameras, two golf buggies, and a bunch of other people have all just raced down the 12th fairway anticipating what is to come.

The logistics involved in simply following this group around a golf course are mind boggling.

Jostling for camera positions at the tee, picking the best spot to catch them as they come down, and deciding when to jump a hole ahead to not be blocked out.

There are worse problems to have though.

  19. Pars all roundpublished at 17:05 BST

    McIlroy -9, MacIntyre -4, Gotterup -6 (11)

After finding the cabbage, Rory McIlroy shows immense strength to muscle his ball out and to the front edge of the green.

Two putts from there and the joint-leader walks off with a more than respectable par.

It's the same score for Bob MacIntyre and Chris Gotterup.

  20. Postpublished at 17:03 BST

    Kim -8 (16)

Tom Kim is quietly going about his business to good effect.

He drains an 18-footer for birdie on 16 to move eight under, one shot behind the leaders.

The South Korean is three under for his day, helped in no small part by an eagle on seven.
