Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, speaking to BBC Sport: "We were in control of the game and then conceded the goal, lost a bit of control after that but then got back into the game, scored just before half time and in the second half we were brilliant. We need to be hungry to score more goals.
"It is a great accolade for myself but it is together with the team because I couldn't do any of that without them helping me.
"Obviously it was a huge week and to end with a win at home today was massive.
"I said before the game to be honest, there are certain days you feel it. It is one of those days when everything comes to you and you have to take it.
"We have to do it in both ways, when we lose we can't get carried away with the negative things. I hate losing and it is difficult to be positive when you lose games because at this club you want to be on top of everything and win games. It is very difficult for me to control the emotions."
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has 17 goal involvements (eight goals, nine assists) in his last 15 Premier League appearances against newly promoted sides, including 12 in his last nine at Old Trafford (seven goals, five assists).

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a good win. It was a really good win in the end. We played some really good football. The biggest thing today was the mentality of the boys tp overcomes setbacks. We're going to have them and it depends on how you deal with them. I was really pleased with that. It's easy to look at the result but the mentality and the stubbornness really pleased me.
"We controlled the game pretty well for the most part. A lot of our play was looking on the way to how we wanted it to look. The boys took it on really well and we were fabulous.
On Bruno Fernandes: "He showed his quality today. Bruno did what he's good at. He's had a big week winning awards. Three goals and a fantastic performance.
"There were a lot of positives with and without the ball but it's the whole mentality dealing with it and trusting each other. Last week didn't go for us and we accept that. Today was a lot better.
"We're not getting carried away. We were down last week but everything wasn't wrong. We can still get better, we haven't cracked it. We'll get ready for the next.
On squad rotation: "Part of it was planned going into these first couple of weeks to give players minutes for what's ahead. Everyone has been on the pitch, barring one or two. We have the squad to do that.
On the transfer window: "I think we've done some fantastic business and we've done it very well with the money we've spent. We're making the most of the situation that we have. The spirit is good and they want to fight for each other."

Ipswich boss Gary O'Neil, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "If you look at the last half hour, Man Utd created a lot of chances. The slip for the goal was unfortunate, we were in control and we lost our striker at half-time. Then a massive deflection and handball. You find yourself 2-1 down. But then we need to do better. Emotional discipline, getting back in shape. That stuff we have to get better at.
On Maguire's shot: "It's a really tough rule to ref as well. Maguire's shot was missing by quite a way. But what if it's heaving somewhere near the post and it's too close to tell? It doesn't feel like a goal. It feels like it should be chalked off but we accept that it isn't and that's the rule. We have to be ready for Liverpool on Friday.
"The third goal was poor stepping out. We haven't done that all afternoon. We didn't really put a foot wrong for 56 minutes. These things can happen and we need to find a way to cope better from there. Proud of the players to keep going and get a goal at the end. It's a loss at Old Trafford for a newly promoted side.
On Emersonn injury: "We didn't think it was serious, really hard to tell. He jarred his knee when he landed. We're hopeful he'll be back around it on Friday.
"It's the Premier League, there will be ups and downs."

"They had a couple of moments and we got back to it and took control. The second half was particularly good. Delighted, a lot of positives.
On Ipswich misfortune: "There are two sides to the coin, obviously. I understand the disappointment for them. It's one of those things and we took advantage of it.
"Bruno played well today. You could see the connection through the middle with him, Matheus, Kobbie and Youri. To come back and reset with the week Bruno has had makes it a good one."

I'm disappointed in myself for the first goal, someone with that experience I should be doing much better so I take responsibility for that. That's not me and I was extremely disappointed with myself. The second half performance was us, there are lots of good things to take out of that and of course there are always things you can improve on. Today was really important to get the three points.
"It's never nice when you lose a game, especially the first game of the season when there is a lot of optimism. The best thing to do is block out the noise and focus on ourselves. There's lots of good things to take for it and push on.
On Bruno Fernandes: "I kind of run out of words to speak about Bruno to be honest, he is such a good player. I would like to speak about Kobbie [Mainoo]. I think today he was world class, so so good, the way he controlled the game and the way he drove us forward, I know Bruno scored the hat-trick but I would put Mainoo down for man of the match. He is so young and it is such a joy to see him growing. For me he was phenomenal today. A real leader in that middle."

"To beat Manchester United at Old Trafford you need the moments to go in your favour and they didn't. Rules can go against you, or a deflection, there are lots of things that can happen in a game that are beyond your control.
"It is a complicated rule - handball if it's the goal scorer but not if it takes a deflection and was heading off the target. I think that is tough for a referee.
"But no problem. I'm not here to moan about refs. We get no points, at Old Trafford a lot of people leave with no points but we leave with an understanding of where to get better.
"We have three points from two tough games. A good start for us. It is the Premier League, the lads understand there will be highs and lows. We don't want there to be too many lows but the lads are fine in there. They understand."

On Harry Maguire's handball before Man Utd's second goal
It's one of those rules where I understand because it's there in black and white, but it still doesn't feel right. Harry Maguire directly impacts what happens to the ball and it ends up in the back of the net at a crucial time for Ipswich. If it hits your hand and he is the one that directly impacts it, it's not a nice one to take.

Manchester United's Luke Shaw, speaking to Sky Sports: "A really important win. We knew how important it was to win today. I am a bit disappointed and angry with myself for the first goal. Extremely happy with the team in the second half, it was really good.
"With the quality in our squad we should have belief all the time we can win games. It always helps when you have someone like Bruno in your team, he can score and create.
"Us as Manchester United should be expected to win here. After last week we were extremely disappointed and knew we had to react today. Of course not the first goal but the way we bounced back after that.
"We kept the tempo high and kept going for more - that is the thing we can improve this season."

RioOki: Despite what looks like a comfortable win, United defensively were shocking. Leakier than the Old Trafford roof! Midfield remains an issue to be seriously challenging for a trophy. Maybe Baleba could add some physical presence at the base.

You can't criticise the VAR officials because they are enforcing the law that they are given.
They train extremely hard, they learn their profession but it was a handball and Harry Maguire who struck the shot.
Thankfully that wasn't a game-defining goal. How many times has the handball law been changed?

If you think about the wording of the law itself, it is accident handball by the goalscorer and if Harry Maguire is not the goalscorer then clearly you can't penalise him for that accidental handball.
The VAR can obviously still determine that that was deliberate handball by Maguire if it wanted to - and that could rule out the goal that way. But in terms of the law itself because it wasn't Maguire who scored, the accidental aspect does not apply.
A few years ago, I think it was until 2021 then any accidental handball by a player would have been ruled out. But they realised that was getting penalised far too strictly and ruling out goals when it didn't need to.
They tweaked it and made it for the goalscorer only.

Manchester United are unbeaten in their last eight home league games against Ipswich (W6 D2), winning the last four by an aggregate score of 18-2.
Ipswich are winless in their last seven Premier League games against Man Utd (D2 L5) since a 3-2 home win in September 1994. The first game in this winless run was a 9-0 defeat at Old Trafford in March 1995.
Manchester United haven’t lost any of their last 400 home league games when leading at half-time (W365 D35). The last team to beat them were Ipswich Town in May 1984 (2-1).
After facing Hull on MD1 and Ipswich here, Manchester United are the first team to face promoted sides in both of their opening two games of a Premier League season since Bournemouth in 2019-20 (Sheffield United, Aston Villa). Emersonn scored on his Premier League debut for Ipswich in their MD1 win over Sunderland – the last player to score in his first two appearances in the competition for the Tractor Boys was Adam Tanner in January 1995.
Despite only coming on at half-time, no Manchester United player created more chances on MD1 versus Hull than Marcus Rashford (4) – only Chelsea’s Morgan Rogers created more chances overall across the Premier League’s opening matchday (5).
