    Should be a tasty one.

  2. 'Our level was way below'published at 16:43 BST 11 October

    FT: Hull City 2-2 Everton

    Everton

Everton manager David Moyes to BBC Match of the Day: "I'm really frustrated with the levels generally. Our level was way below where we've been recently. Disappointed that when we went 2-1 up I didn't think there'd be any way we would go on to not to win the game. But a couple of defensive mistakes didn't help and we also missed quite a lot of chances ourselves which would've made it easier."

On Brennan Johnson's disallowed goal: "Look I think we have a shot and he could be offside with the shot that is blocked and he scored the rebound. I accept that well enough. But I just don't know if the goalkeeper's heel is playing him on. I hope they've put the lines on and done it correctly.

"We were annoyed with the players at half-time with the way they had played in the first half, so we were expecting a good start. But we get beaten and miskick the ball and they get into score. It meant we had to find a way to get back which we did do, deservedly so.

"But in the end, coming away with a point from here you shouldn't be too disappointed when you look at the results they got against Manchester United and Aston Villa here. They've got something going.

"But I thought when we went 2-1 up there wouldn't be any winners but us."

  3. 'Win the most important thing'published at 16:41 BST 11 October

FT: Crystal Palace 3-1 Nottingham Forest

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage, speaking to BBC Sport: "We are happy to win this game but we were aware of this one. We struggled a lot against a good team. They analysed us very well. In the end we won and that is the most important thing.

"The most important moment was when Benitez saved to prevent it 2-0. At this moment we stayed in the game.

"We were not perfect but we are a team with a big heart an a big solidarity. Sometimes you have to win like this.

"The message is everyone is really important because the season is really long. They deserve a day off, it is a good way to give something. It is a day off for the players but for us we have to really be focused on Lyon now."

There was some debate as to whether Crystal Palace’s second goal should have been credited to Jefferson Lerma or Anan Khalaili.

After several replays, various angles and about 30 minutes of TV analysts magnifying the picture, it does look like Lerma’s header comes off the arm of Khalaili before going into the goal.

However, to be fair to the VAR, they cannot take this long in their deliberations and if there is not clear, indisputable evidence readily available, they must go with the on-field decision.

  5. Should second Palace goal have stood?published at 16:37 BST 11 October

Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner might have something to say about Crystal Palace's crucial second goal.

While it has been credited to Jefferson Lerma, replays seem to suggest that he may not have been the goal scorer.

There appears to be evidence that Lerma headed the ball onto the elbow of teammate Anan Khalaili, and that is what took the ball towards goal before it found a way past keeper Matz Sels.

A goal cannot be scored if the ball touches the arm, so Forest may believe the goal should have been ruled out. The VAR determined that there was no conclusive evidence to get involved.

This will sting for Forest after they had a Neco Williams goal ruled out for handball against Spurs, after he bundled the ball into the net on the goal-line.

There is a case that the evidence was clearer for handball by Khalaili than for Williams, and Forest have been on the wrong end of both.

  7. 'It was like I didn't deserve to win here'published at 16:34 BST 11 October

FT: Crystal Palace 3-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner, speaking to Sky Sports: "We didn't kill the game off and we should have done it, creating so many chances. I played many games here and I haven't seen a team create so many chances. At the end we did not convert them.

"We conceded the two goals before half time then we had two big chances but then we conceded the slapstick goal and we are 3-1 down.

"Today it looks like it is just me who is responsible for this, call it karma or whatever but it was like I didn't deserve to win at Selhurst Park because the players did everything. Nobody to blame for anything, the effort was there and the quality was there.

"This performance will give us confidence even if it feels strange with the result.

"Crazy game but for us it is important not just to look at the result.

"A huge thank you to the Palace supporters and the Forest supporters. It is not often you are supported from both sides, so thank you very much."

On the Liam Delap chance: "He has scored 90% of his goals with power, that is his strength and I don't blame him for this. He knows he could have done it differently but I think 10 times with the same situation he would have scored that."

On the second Palace goal: "I haven't watched it back. Maybe today it was not clear and obvious."

  8. 'I've waited a long time to play back in the Premier League' - Gelhardtpublished at 16:31 BST 11 October

    FT: Hull City 2-2 Everton

    Hull City

Hull goalscorer Joe Gelhardt to BBC Match of the Day: "Every player wants to play. When I found out yesterday I was buzzing and couldn't wait to get playing.

"There is a lot of competition, we know we have a lot of great quality in the dressing room so when you get your chance you have to take it with both hands to try and stay in the team and give the manager a decision.

"It's an amazing moment. I've waited a long time to play back in the Premier League since I was at Leeds so to do that and score was an unbelievable feeling.

"I just remember Sorba [Thomas] played a great pass and I was just waiting for movement from [Jordan] Pickford to see if he would do anything, and then I decided to go with that chip.

    "I think it's a good point."

  10. 'It's not easy to beat us'published at 16:25 BST 11 October

    FT: Hull City 2-2 Everton

    Hull City

Hull manager Sergej Jakirovic to BBC Match of the Day: "I saw a good game, tough game. It was not easy. First half maybe we were scrappy on the ball with our transitions but we had what we had. Second ball when they made mistakes, we punished them immediately. But unfortunately after this we gave them two goals.

"It's big cardinal mistakes. But I can be happy with the boys because we showed good mentality. A point is good. Congratulations to both teams today. A great mentality, a strong mentality. We never surrendered."

On goalscorer Mohamed Belloumi not starting: "On Friday he came to me he was fatigued and there was a lot of travelling. He's also a very young guy and in the past he has had a few injuries. But he's a great player and he can make the difference.

"It's a good stadium for us, it's our home, our crowd. It's not easy to beat us. But we must also try to win some games because the table is so tight so every point is important to us."

Nottingham Forest got the first and they could have turned that into two, three or four.

But they didn't. Instead they will be heading back to the City Ground with no points.

A very good second half. Certainly no lack of effort from every single player there. As soon as the goal was scored, the game opened up and it was much more enjoyable.

You can look at that Hull team team and say we'll be okay.

But for Everton's David Moyes, he'll look at that and think 'oh, that one last mistake.' Without that, I think Everton could have cruised to the end with three points.

Wish would have put them in the top four or five. Moyes will be disappointed.

  16. 'First home win for Sage is important for momentum'published at 16:05 BST 11 October

FT: Crystal Palace 3-1 Nottingham Forest

    Daniel Gabbidon
Former Crystal Palace defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at Selhurst Park

It's not been a great start to the season for Crystal Palace and Pierre Sage will have been well aware how important this game is with Oliver Glasner coming back to his old club. Getting one over him will certainly help with that relationship with the Crystal Palace fans.

It's the first home win which is important for momentum and confidence. I thought in the second half when they got themselves in front they managed the game a lot better than the first half.

  17. Postpublished at 16:02 BST 11 October

You'd have to say both sides will be relatively content with a draw.

Both went behind and both took the lead.

Everton remain unbeaten and climb to fifth, for now at least.

Everton's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scores his side's equalising goal to make the score 1-1 despite the attentions of Hull City's Konstantinos Tzolakis and Nobel Mendy during the Premier League 2026/27 match between Hull City and Everton at MKM Stadium on October 11.Image source, Getty Images

A first home win of the season for Palace and an impressive one it was too, coming from behind to overturn their old manager's new club.

Oliver Glasner shakes the hands of all of his former players on the pitch. They all look pretty pleased to see him. Probably even more pleased to have got the win.
