I see a lot of people making digs at Spurs spending, ironically they are the same people who have been taking digs for years about them not spending! What is it about this little club that drives everyone so mad with what they do?

There’s a Villa squad “gelling” and then there’s being realistic and accepting Jackson isn’t as good as Watkins, Harwood-Bellis as Konsa, Gomes as Tielemans, Manzambi and Suzuki for all their potential aren’t as good as Rogers and Martinez now.

This Tottenham team are at home, I expect them to perform. Villa have come here with slightly less pressure. Villa will want a quiet 20 minutes.

Stu Smith: Quite frankly I’m not surprised both these clubs have had poor starts. Villa sold all their best players and what they have bought in are going to take time to gel. For Spurs, they just overspent and not really improved their squad much.

The Joneses: Both clubs are coming at this from different angles. Villa lost half their team including the majority of their most influential players so have had to reinvest and try to gel players together, several of whom have been suffering from injuries. Spurs were able to just throw over £300m loose change at their problems. Spurs are favourites for me today as Emery needs more time for everyone to settle.

In his programme notes, Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi writes Spurs need to "discover our spark."
Starting the Premier League season with four goalless games, the first time in the club's 144-year history they have failed to score in their opening four matches of a season, most Tottenham fans would agree.
"There is no shortcut to building a new team," continued De Zerbi.
"It requires hard work and dedication on the training ground, which is what I am seeing. I believe in my group of players and have no doubt things will start to click soon."

Brighton are winless in their last six Premier League home games against Arsenal (D2 L4), having been unbeaten in their first three against the Gunners at the Amex Stadium (W2 D1).
Arsenal have won four of their last six Premier League games against Brighton (D2), as many as they had in their first 12 against the Seagulls (D3 L5).
Having failed to win any of their first seven Premier League home games again reigning champions (D2 L5) – conceding at least four goals in each defeat – Brighton have beaten Manchester City and Liverpool in the last two campaigns at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton have scored more goals than any other side in the Premier League this season, with nine of their 13 goals coming across their two wins so far (4-0 v Aston Villa, 5-0 v Coventry). It’s the 10th time a team has won two of their opening four Premier League games by 4+ goals, and first since Manchester City in 2021-22.
Arsenal have won each of their last nine Premier League games, conceding just two goals in the process. Only twice before have they won 10 in a row in the competition – 10 between March-May 1998 and 14 between February-August 2002, with both of those runs also incorporating a title win.
Arsenal have faced just 2.7 xG across their four Premier League games so far this season, fewer than any other side. Almost a third of this (0.8) came from Sunderland’s penalty in their last match.
Brighton have forced more high turnovers than any other side in the Premier League this season (41), while they rank second for this overall since Fabian Hürzeler took charge in 2024-25 (698).
Bukayo Saka has been involved in five goals in six Premier League away games against Brighton (3 goals, 2 assists), scoring on each of his last three visits to the Amex Stadium. The only Arsenal players to score in 4+ straight away appearances against an opponent in the competition are Thierry Henry at Middlesbrough (4 between 2000 and 2003) and Robert Pires at Tottenham Hotspur (5 between 2001 and 2005).
Brighton’s Pascal Groß (13) and Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard (12) are the two players with the most chances created so far in the Premier League this season. Both have created 11 from open play, also the most in the league.
Last time out against Coventry, Pascal Groß became the first Brighton player and second German player (after Mesut Özil) to reach 50 Premier League assists. Three of these have come against Arsenal, with Groß only providing more against four sides.
