Four games, 17 goals and three red cards tonight. Madness. Just what you want from a Championship midweek, ey?

And in less than 48 hours, we will have more as a resurgent Burnley host a Wolves side looking frail following the international break.

They headline Friday night's blockbuster before the remainder of the second tier burst into action on Saturday, including a showstopper between West Ham United and league leaders Swansea City.

As always, we will be here for the ride. Until then.

Nuno might not think it's important to look at the table, but we do...

It looks a lot healthier tonight for the happy Hammers, who are up to third, though vanquished Lincoln drop a place to 18th and their goal difference has taken an almighty hit.

QPR look like they are here to stay in the promotion race after brushing aside Derby, who remain second bottom while Norwich are down to 20th after their defeat to Southampton, who are up to seventh, within three points of West Ham.

Pompey have some breathing space after their last-gasp win over Sheffield United took them up to 16th, one place and one point behind the Blades.

    West Ham United

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo speaking to Sky Sports:

"We have a big game on the weekend now. This is what we didn't expect to happen but it's not up to us, I think we did our job, but we know it's going to be very tough at Swansea.

"We are trying to build momentum, trying to keep improving and the table is not vital, not important to look at but to just keep the lads focused and keep improving. What matters is the end and our objective is clear, we have to go back and we work very hard to achieve it. We know it's going to be tough and a very long season."

  5. Postpublished at 22:24 BST 14 October

    FT: Lincoln 0-6 West Ham

Unsurprisingly with a couple of 6-0 wins under their belt, West Ham are the leading scorers in the top four flights of English football by quite some distance.

29 goals in their 10 Championship matches.

League One Reading are next on the list with 22 in nine games.

Playing against nine men for well over an hour does strange things to a match.

Funny old game this. A 6-0 win and I’m underwhelmed really. Credit to Lincoln. Scoreline doesn’t tell the full story and they played valiantly with nine men for most of the game. As far as the Hammers, we’ll have to be much better than that at the weekend!

  9. 'We had to be patient'published at 22:14 BST 14 October

    FT: Lincoln 0-6 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek told Sky Sports: "I am just happy we have the three points, it's the most important, we did the job.

"(Lincoln) did an amazing job, especially in the first half, with the two red cards. We had to be patient, We scored just before half-time. We said we had to be patient but be active to try and get the second and third."

On pressure being on West Ham: "We know we are favourites for the Championship, it's not easy, there are a lot of good teams, but we have to concentrate on ourselves.

"The mood in the camp is very good. We have only one goal, that is to go straight to the Premier League.

    "I love the club."

  10. 'A hard-fought battle'published at 22:11 BST 14 October

    FT: Norwich 0-1 Southampton

    Jo Tessem
Ex-Southampton midfielder on BBC Radio Solent

    It's been a hard-fought battle.

We played some good football in the first half, got the goal and then we got a bit flat. We talked about can we keep it going, but then we got back into the game.

Caspar Jander came on and was close to man of the match. Stephens and Schlotterbeck were brilliant, they didn't put a foot wrong.

  12. 'A crucial point of the season for Norwich'published at 22:08 BST 14 October

    FT: Norwich 0-1 Southampton

    Chris Goreham
    BBC Radio Norfolk commentator

We're now in a crucial point of the season for Norwich. It's been a poor start to the season - nine points in the past 10 games and they have played the top sides, but now they have a chance to pick up some points.

The pressure will be on the players and Philippe Clement.

  13. 'West Ham go to Swansea in great shape'published at 22:01 BST 14 October

    FT: Lincoln 0-6 West Ham

    Paul Parker
Ex-QPR and Manchester United defender on BBC Radio London

It was a great performance by the Lincoln fans. Even after four and 5-0 they kept singing.

West Ham need goals to come from all over and not just from one player and they have that because they need to go up in one hit and not via the play-offs.

They now go to Swansea in great shape. It's a big game, these players have played in big games mentally this season. It's going to be a good game and one not to miss.

  15. 'Game changed after 25 minutes'published at 21:58 BST 14 October

    FT: Lincoln 0-6 West Ham

    Mark Hone
Former Lincoln City defender on BBC Radio Lincolnshire

    It's been a difficult watch.

The game effectively changed after 25 minutes and it was forwards v defence.

  16. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:53 BST 14 October

    QPR 4-1 Derby

An emphatic victory for QPR to take them to fourth. Derby, on the other hand, in deep water.

A big deflection on Paul Smyth's fourth goal and the Rams offered little to threaten the clean sheet until Lars-Jorgen Salvesen played poacher in the box in the last action of the game.

A performance befitting a side confident they can compete at the top end from the hosts, also a game that will have travelling fans concerned about how their season is going turn out.

Worth mentioning that John Eustace began his Derby reign shipping four goals at Loftus Road. He'll be hoping it's not his swan song too.

A perfect night for the Hammers, who rewrite their history books with a second 6-0 win of the young season.

The context is important though, Lincoln played with nine men from the 23rd minute after Tom Hamer and Conor McGrandles were sent-off in an extraordinary start to the game.

Konstantinos Mavropanos broke the Imps resistance just before the break and Edvin Austbo, Jarrod Bowen and Pablo added goals before Tomas Soucek's late double.

The Hammers have matched the club record 6-0 away league win they registered at Leicester 103 years ago.

They head to leaders Swansea on Saturday full of confidence.
