Image source, ShutterstockWhen all is said and done, which might not be for a while yet given the clouds gathered over this fixture, it was a great semi-final tie over two legs between two quality sides who deserved to be there and gave it absolutely everything in pursuit of Wembley.
The dust will settle, sanctions will be imposed, and pieces will be picked up. We'll let you know what happens just as soon as the news breaks, of course.
It's a case of what might have been for Boro, what if Hayden Hackney had not been injured in March? Might they have been up already? What if Tommy Conway had broken the deadlock on Saturday? What if Dael Fry hadn't stooped out of the way of Shea Charles' curling cross four minutes before penalties?
