England are just desperate for something here. They have half-an-eye on the scoreboard but that lead is just ticking further up.

  2. Ind 63-0published at 14 overs

Whenever Issy Wong loses her line and length, India punish her.

A wider delivery is dispatched through point for four by Smriti Mandhana.

The India opener picks up a second boundary off the next ball but with little control - edging through the slips.

And then Mandhana's finesse returns, cutting a short and wide delivery to the rope.

    An expensive over.

England gained back some fans recently but they’re going to lose them again if they don’t perform well.

  4. Ind 51-0published at 13 overs

Smriti Mandhana goes aerial and the ball drops short of Issy Wong running in from the square boundary. Wong ended up kneeing it after the bounce. Ouch. Single.

Shafali Verma adds a seventh boundary to her tally, driving sweetly through the covers.

50 up for India. They lead by 166 runs.

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma are the first in the women's game to bring up 900 Test match runs as a pair.

These partnership runs have come at an incredible average of 75.08 in 13 innings.

  6. Ind 46-0published at 12 overs

Issy Wong's opening delivery darts in and beats Shafali Verma's outside edge.

The opener deals with the next three balls in slightly unconvincing fashion before guiding a wide full toss to the right of the slips for four. Nice placement.

Wong responds well, beating Verma's edge once more.

    And the maidens return.

Lauren Bell beat Smriti Mandhana's outside edge with her fourth delivery but the rest of the over is comfortably dealt with.

England have bowled five maidens inside the first 10 overs. In the first innings they managed only four in total.

  10. Ind 42-0published at 10 overs

Off the 21st delivery, Shafali Verma ends the run of dot balls at the start of the evening session.

She pounces on a short ball and pounds it through point for four. Three fielders give chase in vain.

And the India opener goes back-to-back, just beating a diving Nat Sciver-Brunt in the slips for four more.

Four byes and a dot complete the over.

Enjoying watching Indian woman play cricket more than Indian Men. Worst performance I have by the mens team. Some of the players and coaching staff needs to be replaced.

Promising early signs that England have improved their line and length in this innings.

In the first innings, England pitch 16% of the first 10 overs in a good line and length region. So far in this innings that is up to 29%.

  13. Ind 30-0published at 9 overs

Issy Wong is clapping and shaking her hands in the deep, trying to hype up the crowd.

Lauren Bell bowls a fuller delivery to Smriti Mandhana and the ball whistles through to Amy Jones. Bowler, keeper and slip fielder go up for a caught behind but the umpire isn't interested.

    Maiden.

  14. Ind 30-0published at 8 overs

Issy Wong, wearing a bandana, gives the ball a lengthy shine before winding up for her first over of the second innings. Maiden.

Amy Jones moved sharply to her left to pouch a leg-side delivery and save a couple of extras midway through the overs.

  15. Ind 30-0published at 7 overs

Lauren Bell bowls the first over after tea and starts with a maiden.

Today's attendance at Lord's is 15,243. That is a world record for a single day at a women’s Test beating the 11,918 who watched at the MCG during the 2024-25 Women’s Ashes.

The attendance was 10,763 on day one so more than 26,000 have currently attended this Test.

Kranti Gaud is the first women to take a Test five-for at Lord’s, etching her name on the famous honours board with figures of 5-37 from 17 overs.

Here's the damage she did to Alice Capsey's off stump - the third of her five wickets - and her celebrating her five-for.
