Who better to tell Connexions what it needs than the young people themselves? The VIP (Very Inspirational Posse!) were set up originally to have their say on the look and publicity of the new Exeter Connexions Information and Advice Centre, which had its official launch in September.
 | | The VIP's planning the future |
The group of young people, are 13 - 16 year olds from Priory School in Exeter.
They are working with Connexions and youth service staff to ensure that the new Connexions Service listens to their opinions and provides the services that they need. They meet regularly to discuss ways to get the word of Connexions out to other young people.
| What the VIP's said about Connexions | The launch was the best bit cos it was fun and we planned it and put in all the effort and it came out better that I thought. Hanna | | | It takes up quite a bit of time but the results make you feel proud of what you've done, and you can tell people you've done it. And it might help in the future - on your CV. Kim | | If we hadn't been involved - the building wouldn't be as great as it is now and young people wouldn't be as interested cos we are young people and we know what attracts other young people. Cerys | | I learnt to get ideas across easier and to meet new people. Hanna |
They've been involved from the beginning of the build of the new Connexions centre in Queen Street - their latest task being the organisation of a launch party!
 | | The opening of the new centre |
The VIP's have created their name and logo for their T-shirts and other publicity materials. They have also helped to design posters and window mobiles for the windows of the new centre. They've even come up with new slogans that have been used in the centre and on the Connexions Cornwall and Devon website.
The recent launch of new centre was a real celebration of their achievements. The centre, at 37-39 Queen Street, is open 9.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursdays and 10.30am - 4.30pm on Fridays.
Call 0800 9755111 for more details of when agencies will be at the centre or pop in to make an appointment. For more information visit www.connexions-cd.org.uk the local website.
