My name is Luke Lundin. I am 17 years old and have cerebral palsy. I have recently won a whizz-kidz 'No-Limits' Millennium award to undertake a project to provide access for disabled people to perform live dance music.

As a disabled person I know the enormous benefits and enjoyment that exposure to not just listening to music but opportunities for creating and performing it can bring.

A.I.M. Air Interactive Music
My project AIM live, is an interactive music
performance of a range of dance music
compositions - specially composed and /or arranged by myself.

The project will initially involve me putting on concerts at Herewood College in Coventry - the national integrated college for people with disabilities, where I am studying music technology.

Later in the year I also plan to perform concerts in the West Country, which is where my home is, and in particular Plymouth - with support from Drake Music at the Soundhouse, Estover Community College.

The performances will aim to to attract as many of the students in attendance at the colleges, most of whom will have no prior experience of performing, creating music or using technology.

In particular, disabled members of the community who may otherwise not have access to this kind of event will be encouraged to attend also.

Dance music is extremely popular amongst young people today and this is especially the case with the young disabled communities.

However, most are unaware of how easily they may participate in being creative - particularly with the latest advancement in technology.

No Limits
The Whizz-kidz project has funded Luke's plans

Participants with restricted or limited motor skills will be able to perform an accompanying melody to music using specialist musical instruments designed specifically for their needs.

More so, they will be provided with CD recording of their performance on the night.

My aim is to create an environment within the parameters of the colleges.

This will enable young disabled people to get together on evenings and produce and perform music of their own to a high standard.

The Whizz-kidz No Limits Millennium Award will go a long way towards helping me achieve my aim.
