• Katie Swan, the last Brit standing in the women's singles, lost to Madison Keys in straight sets.
• It was a disappointing day in the women's doubles, with five all-British pairs - including Katie Boulter and Heather Watson - and 12th seed Olivia Nicholls (partnering Slovakia's Tereza Mihalikova) all falling the first round.

• Defending champion Iga Swiatek was a comfortable winner against Karolina Pliskova on Centre Court, but 2025 runner-up Amanda Anisimova neededthree sets to get past fellow American Sofia Kenin.

I honestly don't have much to say other than I'm happy to be back playing tennis in front of you guys, that's it. I'm very emotional and a little bit overwhelmed at the moment. Of course, the first match was very - just give me a second to collect myself - look, it was a great match today.

"All I wanted to do is just come out and fight, that was my goal. I didn't even think about winning or losing, I didn't even think about my body to that extent. You guys helped me a lot, the atmosphere was just spectacular as always. I feel so loved and so supported everywhere in the world, but coming to Wimbledon is extra special for me and I want you guys to know that. I thank my team, my friends, my family and my girlfriend - everyone that has been with me through that path. The path here has been so difficult. It is all about conquering myself and playing tennis like I did today, regardless of the outcome.

"Thank you for embracing me and thank you for supporting me always."

On whether he feels the shadow of Wimbledon 2025 follows him: "Yes, indeed. I got broken in the first game of the fourth set so that wasn't a great start. I looked up four or five times, hoping that I was going to finish the match before they decided to close the roof. It was almost like deja vu, but all you can do is smile. What happened in the past stays there and I have to embrace what comes next, whether it is good or bad."

On playing Matteo Berrettini in the next round: "Well, if nothing else, it is going to be a pretty match! I'm looking forward to it but I'm going to enjoy right now, rest and put myself in the best position to come out and battle again. Right now, I just want to enjoy the moment."

I've always regarded Grigor [Dimitrov] as one of the most talented players to ever play the game, he's just never lived up to his potential.

Winning that match, the odds were against him, almost no one thought he could raise to that level again but that was just a wonder to watch.

Grigor Dimitrov is basically crying, he's so emotional. It means so much to him to make this comeback, all the pain he's gone through, all the operations, the time in the hospital to get over that shoulder injury.

Amazingly, a year later he's back producing the same stuff. He's playing amazing, I'm marveled how a guy his age can comeback like that and perform at this level.

Handing out a wildcard to Grigor Dimitrov is looking like a very good decision.

The Bulgarian will take on 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini in round three.

During his recovery, Grigor Dimitrov at times doubted if he would ever fully recover from the devastating pectoral injury which he sustained on Centre Court last year.

But he jumps in delight after knocking out 15th seed Jakub Mensik to reach the third round, as deafening cheers rebound around inside Court One.

The significance of this latest victory for Dimitrov is not lost on anybody who has stayed until the conclusion of this one after more than three hours.

He looks to the sky and puffs out his cheeks as his Wimbledon redemption continues, and he receives warm applause as he becomes emotional as he discusses how much having this opportunity means to him.

Dimitrov looks like boxer in the ring going into the corner, he was toweling of every part of his body from sweat to optimise his performance.
