    Mikey Lewis

AJ Brimson is destroying this France defence. He bursts through again and has Jack Welsby in support. The St Helens man looks like he's going to be caught and offloads to Mikey Lewis.

    England 52-0 France

Mikey Lewis and Jack Welsby are now both on the pitch for England.

France go for one of those short kick-offs that served them so well against Samoa and erm concede territory immediately.

The short ball is the answer. England have got no value out of anything long. AJ Brimson has gone around the middles, the easiest looking try in the world, but that's what you've got to do. The worst thing to do would have been to pass again. England need to go up another gear - and bringing on Mikey Lewis will help that.

    Jez Litten

AJ Brimson puts on the footwork. How France must be sick of the sight of him running through the middle.

This time he pops off a pass to Jez Litten and the Hull KR man cruises over for England's ninth try.

Easy for Hugo Savala to add the extra two points from there.

The situtation England find themselves in means they go for another short goal-line drop out. France's attack and kickin on the last is poor and England escape without conceding.

Before anyone gets carried away, let's just remember we are playing against a very poor French team. It's the equivalent of a top Super League team playing against an average Championship club.

Kai Pearce-Paul's offload is intercepted on the France line. Jez Litten now gives away a penalty, to relieve the pressure on Laurent Frayssinous' side.

George Williams tries to get Dom Young in again but France cover that move well. Meanwhile, there is movement on the England bench and Mikey Lewis looks like he could be coming on.

    England 46-0 France

A high France kick is not collected on the full and it'll be a goal-line drop out. That's an area England need to tidy up, they can't afford to ship any points.

    England 40-0 France

    Paul Rowley

Great work from England - smashed them up the middle with the outside-backs. Great vision from George Williams, and Dom Young was just waiting for that ball to bounce into his hands. Really well-worked England try, and ominous signs for France.

TRY - England 40-0 Francepublished at 46 mins

    Dom Young

Dom Young scoots over in the right corner but that's all down to a superb kick from George Williams, who puts that try on a plate.

A collector's item as Hugo Savala's kick flashes across the front of the posts and not through them.

Paul from London, you don’t understand Pacific rivalries if you think Samoa and Tonga will do anything other than go 100% at each other.

England need more of the same in the second half. Still some huge unknowns around if they will be able to qualify, namely can Tonga defeat Samoa in eight days time.

And before that, can Brian McDermott's side put enough points on the board today and defeat Papua New Guinea heavily to give them a chance of reaching the semi-finals.

The worst part of this WC format is the opportunity for a Samoa v Tonga carve up. That is the last group match and both teams will know the exact result needed to see both teams through whatever England can do before then. Absolutely shocking planning.
