Huddersfield Giants have signed forward Zane Dunford from Brisbane Tigers on an 18-month deal.

The Australian back row, 24, has hooked up with new Giants coach Jim Lenihan for a second time with the pair previously working together at the Queensland Cup side.

Lenihan described himself as "over the moon" after making Dunford his first Super League signing, insisting the player would add significant power to the Giants pack.

"I brought Zane over from Manly to Brisbane this year, and when the opportunity came up to bring him to Huddersfield we jumped at it," Lenihan told the club website., external

"He's a great middle that has been playing and excelling in the back-row, a good line runner and tough in defence. We're over the moon to have him here for the next 18 months.

"Zane's also a great bloke as well and fits in to the [sort of] people we want to recruit here. He'll work extremely hard for the team and its a great addition for us."

Dunford is scheduled to arrive this weekend and is expected to be in contention for next week's trip to St Helens.
