  3. Hadjar handed 10-place grid penalty

    The second Red Bull of Isack Hadjar will have a 10-place grid penalty for Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix for exceeding his permitted number of engines.

    Hadjar is the second driver to receive a grid penalty for engine-related issues this weekend - world champion Lando Norris will also drop 10 places for using too many batteries.

    My dad once forgot me at a tennis club when he drove home. I watched a couple of matches and he came back 30 minutes later after my mum had asked him where I was when he walked through the front door.

    Max Verstappen is the fastest driver in FP1, he will be happy with that.

    The two Ferraris, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, make up the top three.

    Oscar Piastri is at the other end of the circuit, so McLaren will want that car back asap. They will not want to wait until the end of the session and for a recovery truck. They'll want to start work on it immediately for FP2.

    Oh dear, Oscar Piastri's McLaren has slowed down but the Australian hasn't stopped and manages to continue to drive slowly around the track to get his car back to the pits.

  9. Everyone out on track have got the red soft tyres bolted on for the last few laps of the session.

  10. George Russell has returned to the Mercedes garage. It looks like his session is done.

    The constructors' leaders have been a little quiet in FP1.

    Russell is eighth and Kimi Antonelli is sixth.

    Away camping this weekend and one of my friends has somehow forgot their tent! Thankfully realised before we'd got too far where I'd refuse to turn around, so we could go and get it!

    We went on a camping trip once and forgot the tent.

    Was keeping wicket in a cricket game, having not kept for some years. Took me about 15 overs to realise I'd left my pads in the changing room. Given I'd already taken one on the shin in the warm up...

    Max Verstappen has made himself comfortable at the top of the leaderboard.

  15. Rookie Jak Crawford is in Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin for this session.

    The American has a lap time of 1:54.560 and has completed 14 laps so far.

  16. Oscar Piastri completes a lap and puts his car up into fifth.

    The TV camera has zoomed in on a little teddy bear dressed as a marshall sat at the end of the pit wall.

    Teddy is putting in a hell of a shift today.

  17. The two Ferraris have moved up on the leaderboard now.

    Lewis Hamilton is second and Charles Leclerc third.

    They have both won a race each, in Barcelona and Silverstone - can one of them take the chequered flag on Sunday?

  18. Max Verstappen takes a quick trip to the pits and gets some medium tyres bolted on. Also on the mediums are Kimi Antonelli, Oscar Piastri, Oliver Bearman, Esteban Ocon and the two Aston Martins.

    Franco Colapinto is the only driver with the hard tyres on. Everyone else has the red softs bolted on for FP1.

  19. Spa future races

    After the 2026 season, the race in Spa will be in rotation with Barcelona on the F1 calendar, until at least 2032.

    For fans of Spa-Francorchamps, the race will be on the calendar in 2027, 2029, and 2031.

    And the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix will be held in 2028, 2030, and 2032.
