    Incredible. The scenes are great.

It is what the cup competitions are all about. You can see what it means to the staff, players and fans. A night that will live with them for many years.

You can't say that Fleetwood doesn't deserve it. The performance in 90 minutes was great.

They were excellent tonight. What a brilliant team performance tonight.

Paul: Absolute disgrace losing to Fleetwood. If these players were paid on performance and results then maybe they would play for the club and fans. They aren’t bothered they still get over inflated wages win lose or draw.

Mike: Completely unacceptable performance from Arsenal and shows that the so called "strength in depth" is a myth.

Harry: Aresenal's first defeat at Highbury since 2006.

  4. 'Best result' in Fleetwood's historypublished at 23:04 GMT 27 October

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a huge result. Probably the best result in the club's history.

  5. 'It's unbelievable for the town'published at 23:02 GMT 27 October

FT: Fleetwood 1-1 Arsenal (5-3 pens)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

More from Fleetwood's Jake Batty to BBC Radio 5 Live: "We have struggled. We're not known as a big club in League Two, and we get a few thousand fans each game.

"The buzz around town, the fans didn't shut up all game, and that's what we encourage [everyone] to bring on Saturday.

"Just because it's Bristol Rovers on Saturday and not Arsenal at home, why can't we replicate that and get 5,000 fans behind us every game and give us that momentum. Every single one of us is so happy and proud of all the fans that turned out today.

"That's exactly what we need. Because without them, we would have struggled in the moments when they were giving us an extra lift. You think bloody hell, there are a lot of people here supporting me, wanting me to do well. It's unbelievable for the town. I don't think we should be scared of anyone, or any team now."

Paul: Fantastic performance from Fleetwood Town. Hung in there and battled like warriors. Totally deserved well done lads

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports: "First of all, congratulations to Fleetwood for going through in the next round, in the manner they've done it, the atmosphere they have created, and, yeah, a really sad day for us.

"I cannot fault at all the attitude of the players. I haven't seen anyone not doing what is required at this level. But, obviously, we insisted so much, we have so much of the ball, so many chances, so many shots, and if you want the margins to be bigger than going to the penalties, obviously, you need to capitalize on that. And we didn't. And football is about that.

"It is, and especially when they go ahead and, and they create that momentum. We gave them almost nothing in the whole game and we created so many chances, and didn't capitalise on that. And then the margins become so small, that's it. This football, that's the beauty as well of this competition, and, especially in this country, it's a very sad day."

On Max Dowman's red card: "It's difficult to see on the cameras like that, so I prefer to watch it back properly and then I can assess the situation."

On if Dowman will learn from this: "Yeah, we'll learn from everything."

On if he saw enough: "Yeah, the attitude-wise, I have zero. Otherwise, I would be here absolutely fuming. I'm sad, I think we are all sad. We have a massive responsibility to carry this badge in the best possible way. It had nothing to do with effort or application or determination to win it, but we lack other things to, to create a much bigger margin than today, with what we produce, they really should have been shown in the scoreline."

  8. 'I don't think we should be scared of anyone, or any team now'published at 22:57 GMT 27 October

FT: Fleetwood 1-1 Arsenal (5-3 pens)

Fleetwood defender Jake Batty, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "The champions of England coming to our patch, we always knew it was going to be a tough game, we always knew we were going to have to grind out a result.

"I think 1-1 was probably a fair result over 90 minutes, I think we did what we needed to do, I think everyone stuck to the game plan, but yeah, it gives us so much confidence, so much motivation, and it brings us lads closer together because we know we can trust each other arguably against the best players in the world at the moment."

On if the occasion was extra motivation: "We have to replicate that every game. Our league form hasn't been as good as what we wanted it to be, and for some reason, cup competitions give everyone a bit more fire in the belly. We just came up with some magical moments, and this one, is one to tell the grandkids."

On hanging on: "We knew they were going to come here and dominate the ball. We're not silly, we know what we are, we know what they are. Obviously, when they got the goal early in the second half, you're thinking 'oh god, here we go', but I think the resistance, the communication, and the culture of the lads.

"Everyone is just doing a job for each other, fighting for their own place, which is what they need, and we need to go onto Saturday, and carry that momentum and confidence into the game to get three points. We knew we would give [Arsenal] a good game on our patch, and we knew the crowd was going to be there for us."

On Arsenal: "I think we kept them quite in places that we needed to keep them quite and I just think, you can't stop that type of experience."

Tim: Always want to progress, but the silver lining is that it reduces the number of games for Arsenal which could be pivotal in other competitions. Plus it’s amazing for Fleetwood who will get some TV money and a night to remember!

  10. 'The team keeps trying'published at 22:52 GMT 27 October

FT: Fleetwood 1-1 Arsenal (5-3 pens)

    Arsenal

More from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to BBC Radio 5 Live: "The team keeps trying and trying with the ball with chances, shots and especially shots that we had not to score many more goals.

"Then you don't capitalise, then you cannot go through to the next round. Unfortunately, we are out.

On what he said to Max Dowman when he walked off the pitch: "Something that we discussed already before the match."

  11. 'A very sad day'published at 22:50 GMT 27 October

FT: Fleetwood 1-1 Arsenal (5-3 pens)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "First of all, congratulations to Fleetwood for going through the next round. The manner that they have done it, and for us a very sad day.

"There is nothing to criticise the players for their attitude, their application. The determination - you could see that was there from the start. Even with 10 men, we conceded a really poor goal to start with that gave them some momentum."

  12. 'The biggest night in the club's history'published at 22:49 GMT 27 October

FT: Fleetwood 1-1 Arsenal (5-3 pens)

Fleetwood Town boss Matt Lawlor, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's really hard to address the players. I've just said to enjoy it and then we've got a league game on Saturday and I didn't want to be the bearer of the reality, but we've got a game. I just can't believe it. The biggest night in the club's history in terms of opposition coming to town and we've managed to beat the champions.

"We knew before the game, we're not stupid enough and not egotistical enough that you think we're going to go to the best team in the country and the most organised team in the country and the best of the basics and the world-class players, in that we're going to go and outplay them. So we had to ride our luck, we had to deny space, we had to deny options for them. And I think we did that really, really well in terms of the majority of the game. Obviously, the goal happens, but they're going to happen; they're so good at football. The footballers that they have, the gaps that they find and we see it every week in the Premier League.

"I'm a big football fan and I watch the National League all the way through to the Premier League, Championship. So for me it was a tough game to prepare for, but I'm just so glad that the lads have the feeling the way they are and took that performance into make that town, the club, everyone proud."

As hard as you work for things, as difficult as things can be, you're not expecting these results. You're not expecting to beat the current Premier League champions.

Yes, you have a game plan, yes, you can work as hard as you possibly can, but things still have to go your way.

The opposition has to play poorly, not show their quality and you have to ride your luck at times. Make sure that your moments of quality are exactly what they need to be.

Sulaimon: Deserved red card for Max Dowman. Congratulations to Fleetwood. Arsenal didn't turn up today at all. Bruno Guimaraes definitely needs to work on his penalties, remember his penalty miss at the World cup too.

The budget is really important. Fleetwood have to account for every single penny.

It is a real team effort there. Everyone at the club, probably a lot of people in that club, will have dual roles. Nobody will turn around and say that's not my job.

Everyone mucks in and everyone does what they have to do. There is a big operation that goes on at football clubs like this.

So much work behind the scenes where they have to account for every penny and maximise it. This will be an incredibly valuable night for them.

The financial benefits are going to be absolutely huge.

Dowman quite clearly kicked out there which in any normal game is a red. No idea what everyone’s moaning about. If that’s a Fleetwood player on an Arsenal player no one bats an eye.

It was on the far side of the pitch, but from what we saw, Dowman can't have any complaints. Yes, there were a lot of challenges flying in thick and fast from both teams, and then, there was that moment when a huge challenge came in on him, but as I mentioned earlier, they happen so often.

And you have to know, as a good player, people are going to try to kick you at times, and that's what happened.

It was a poor reaction from him and you hope he learns and he learns quickly.
