When it comes to your football team losing, "feelings of disappointment, frustration and deflation are completely valid", Hayley Jarvis, head of physical activity from mental health charity Mind, says.

She has offered up some tips for helping your mental health in the face of disappointment:

• It's OK to be disappointed. Try to notice and acknowledge these feelings. Check in on others about how they are feeling too
• Remember, players are people with feelings too – defeat can often highlight hateful messages. Racism and abuse are never acceptable
• Reframe the disappointment by focusing on the moments of excitement, the conversations, the atmosphere, and the time spent with others
• If post-match debate, criticism, and endless analysis are getting to you, try taking a break from social media
• When a tournament ends, it can leave a gap in your routine. Planning something enjoyable – meeting friends, getting outdoors, following your local club, or looking ahead to the new season – can help shift your focus towards what you can control

Alex Booth, from Northwich, Cheshire, says it was a stressful watch but "I'm so proud of England".

"What happens, happens but we have got to be proud," he says.

The sense of pride in the team also remains for Susan Jenkins, who watched the game with her family and friends.

"We're proud of them. We really are," she says.

Pauline Calderhead, who watched with her son and her friends, says she was "absolutely gutted" and "really sad", following England's late defeat.

Argentina defender Cristian Romero says Gary Neville was "stupid" to criticise his centre-back partnership with Lisandro Martinez.

In the build-up to Argentina's 2-1 World Cup semi-final win over England, former Man Utd defender described Romero and Martinez as "the best, worst centre-half pairing in the world".

"The only thing that I hope for is that when I retire, I am not that stupid. Hopefully I won't criticise a player or anyone," Tottenham defender Romero told DSports when he was asked about Neville's punditry comments.

"Because at the end of the day, we are doing our best for our national team. Sometimes it goes right for us, sometimes badly, but we are just happy to be in a World Cup final again.

"I think we are making history, for us it is something really huge, and we feel the significance of this shirt like no-one else."

Man Utd defender Martinez had his own say, explaining: "We're used to people always talking about us. It seems like they like doing it, and we respond on the pitch, that's it, always with respect."

BBC Newsbeat watched the game with fans at the Indian Brewery Taproom in Birmingham city centre.

There weren’t many fans left after the final whistle but the few who hung around to drown their sorrows told us they couldn’t believe how defensive England went after going 1-0 up.

“It’s difficult because until the end they didn’t look like the better team,” Sam said about Argentina.

“I think we set up well but if you’re going to sit back for 30 minutes you’re always going to bring them on. Once we brought on three centre backs and they’ve scored, they’re always going to get another.”

His mate EJ agrees, saying they were the wrong tactics by Thomas Tuchel “when there’s Messi on the pitch”.

“He’s going to find a way, no matter way. Just get as many goals as you can because you saw, Messi won the game for them,” he said.

And it seems England’s tactics had left the guys’ friend Sean with too many questions.

“Would I have brought on Rashford a lot earlier? Yes I would’ve. Was it in our hands? Yes. What can we do now? Nothing. I feel like we played that very, very wrong.”

Someone else who hung around after the full-time whistle was Karina, who said she “thought it was coming home”.

“They’ve tried their hardest but it wasn’t enough,” she said.

“I think that the defence wasn’t strong enough, they were going strong for so long and then the defence didn’t come through for us tonight.”

England head coach Thomas Tuchel was the only foreign manager remaining in the World Cup, since last night anyway.

With Spaniard Luis de la Fuente and Argentine Lionel Scaloni leading their sides in Sunday's final, we have yet to see a foreign manager lift the trophy.
