More from England captain Harry Kane, speaking to BBC Sport, on his disallowed goal: "I thought it was a pretty close offside. It was annoying at that time. I also thought I had a penalty which could've been easily given. But in the end, it doesn't matter. We are into the semi-finals and I will take it all day.

On reaching the semi-finals: "Our message before the game today was to release the handbrake and go. I have watched us train and seen the ability, especially in the final third. We haven't quite put all that together quite yet. But we are in the semi-finals of a World Cup not having played our best football.

"If we can find it in Wednesday's game, it could be the difference between winning and losing this tournament. We will enjoy it, recover and preparations will start for another game in a few days."

  2. 'Bellingham gets the plaudits and rightly so'published at 01:28 BST

    FT: Norway 1-2 England

    England

England captain Harry Kane speaking to BBC Sport: "Massive effort. It felt tougher than the game in Mexico. The heat and humidity did really affect us. We had to dig deep and find our way especially in the second half and extra-time. The determination and the grit were the difference today.

"It was a fairly even game in terms of possession and chances but when you've got someone like Jude [Bellingham] who can change the game for us like he did again today, that's obviously a big factor. It's the boys' heart and desire that got us over the line.

More on Bellingham: "I keep talking about this hero moments. It seems to be me or Jude who are getting the goals at the moment but everyone was outstanding again today. Jude gets the plaudits and rightly so - two greats goals in the most important game to get us through to the semi-finals.

"You need matchwinners to win any trophy and get far in any tournament. You need matchwinners who are willing to dig deep and find it within to drag us over the line - Jude has done that for us today."

  3. 'England found a way'published at 01:26 BST

    FT: Norway 1-2 England

    Wayne Rooney
Former England striker on BBC iPlayer

We're all delighted that England have got through but the performance wasn't great but they found a way. I love that interview [from Thomas Tuchel]. I thought he was spot on in terms of the mentality, the character of the players has got them through that game because for large parts of that game Norway were the better team.

They got lucky with the second goal for Norway, I thought that was a little bit harsh.

It's about getting through to the semi-finals. They've done their job tonight and we'll see who we play.

  4. 'We got away with it'published at 01:24 BST

    FT: Norway 1-2 England

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I kind of agree with him [Thomas Tuchel] that we got away with it. It felt like 25 minutes before the end of the 90 minutes - I thought Norway were going to win this game.

I expect England to start the semi-final with a different tempo and different mindset. I understand his assessment - we can all see that England can do that a lot better.

  5. 'Lucky or good - Tuchel is both'published at 01:22 BST

    FT: Norway 1-2 England

    Guy Mowbray
    BBC commentator

You need quality, but you need a bit of luck as well. I have covered mutliple World Cups and there is always an element of luck when it comes to who wins it. You do need that. Someone once said that is is better to be a lucky manager than a good manager, well Tuchel is both.

Chuffed by Tuchel and Bellingham's comments after the match. This is a type of mentality we haven't seen from England in a long time.

I loved Tuchel's interview. Over the years we might have had someone come and say that we stuck together and we were brilliant and you have to give hem credit for doing it - he was having none of that.

That is his great mentality and how successful he has been. England had to suffer, particularly in the second half, and when he speaks about mentality, the way they found a way to get back into the game, the way they found a way to keep going.

  8. 'Tuchel interview was fascinating'published at 01:16 BST

    FT: Norway 1-2 England

    Chris Sutton
Former England forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

I don't think England have hit the straps in this tournament yet. I think that is a positive thing.

The Thomas Tuchel interview was fascinating. It was nice to hear him be truthful.

Thomas Tuchel was not happy, was he?

Ultimately England have got through - but is he right to be annoyed with the performance?

"We got lucky" were his words.

It was a difficult game tonight. We lacked quality and speed and tempo but when you have players like Jude Bellingham in the team then you always have a chance.

I said before the tournament started there would be a game when we're going to need Jude Bellingham and I referenced Steven Gerrard in the 2005 Champions League final. In a game where we needed him most he stepped up.

  11. 'Bellingham grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck'published at 01:10 BST

    FT: Norway 1-2 England

    Ellen White
Former England striker on BBC iPlayer

Bellingham is a special talent isn't he? The only issue I have is that we are constantly relying on one player to get us out of a tricky spot, but then again, he always steps up on the world stage.

Norway had so much momentum in the first half, particularly after the hydration break, and he grabbed it by the scruff of the neck. He decided that he was going to be the person to get the goal and really turn the game on its head.

England match-winner Jude Bellingham speaking to ITV, on Thomas Tuchel not liking his side's performance: "Yeah well, whatever. It's difficult out there, it's a tough shift. All the players have put in a tough shift. My thoughts and appreciation goes to the players our there who put in a great shift."

  13. 'We made life very, very difficult for ourselves'published at 01:06 BST

    FT: Norway 1-2 England

    England

England manager Thomas Tuchel speaking to ITV: "I didn't talk about suffering. I never did. We made life very, very difficult for ourselves today. The result is fantastic. We are in the last four. It's amazing but not happy with the performance. - in every sense.

"The commitment is there but we made life difficult for is in the way we played and how we played - sloppy, a lot of technical mistakes, not fast enough, not repetitive enough. We were lucky today."

On whether it was because of the players' mentality: "I don't know. It's not the mentality. This is pure mentality. It's not about mentality. You can bottle it up and sell it. It's about the quality - we need to play better."

On his substitutes: "Reece James was excellent. Morgan Rogers was fantastic today. Eberechi Eze and Djed Spence grew into the game. Full credit to them. Overall we got lucky today."

On Jude Bellingham: "Enough said. He does it every single match. World class."

On the semi-final: "We will get better. We need to. Now it's celebration. Now it's taking it all in. We have three days. We need everything."
