On the heat: "The drinks breaks help. A lot of people are talking about the heat but I don't think it's going to be as big a factor as what some people say. Me personally and a few of of the boys who have been training for a while in it felt fine today. We're all athletes, we're all professionals and have played in warm weather conditions before."

On good spirit in the camp: "We talk a lot about on the pitch and talent and quality but you have to get it all right. The togetherness is something that we have done well in previous tournaments. You've got to make sure you are able to train well and be together for eight weeks it could end up being. We have enjoyed our time together. I think the Arsenal boys are coming tonight so it will be good to see them. It will give another energy and push to the team and before you know it we will be playing Croatia."

England captain Harry Kane speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "I just got told I'm on 79 goals, I actually thought I was on 75 for some reason but I'll take the extra four for sure.

"Whenever I wear this shirt I want to perform, I want to do my job and my first job is to get on the scoresheet and help the team win games. It was nice to do it with the last kick of my half and ended up being the decisive goal.

On the game: "It's preparation for what's coming. We wanted to be here for the heat first and foremost which I thought we dealt with pretty well. The pitch wasn't, great so having to deal with that which is going to happen in the tournament. We like to play quick, we like to play sharp. It wasn't always possible on that pitch, a bit sticky, a bit dry. This is day five into our camp. This is just another step in our preparation and we are just building for bigger things in 10 days. Good to get the result, we always want to win of course."

England head coach Thomas Tuchel, speaking to ITV: "First of all, I'm happy no one is injured and we had four good training sessions. We had this split game for everyone with 45 minutes in the heat on a very difficult pitch. It is not easy, we have a win, we have a clean sheet. We can keep on going, the energy is right. The quality will come, I think the better the opponent gets the better we will get. We tried to score and score."

On England's intensity: "I was more happy with the second half, we had more hunger, more grit, more desire. We didn't score but second half was better. Harry [Kane] scored only goal in the first half. We lacked discipline in the first half, came out of position and didn't stick to the plan. That slowed our game actually down. To put it into context the last time we were in together was November. It's quite a long time, it's the first game after the season."

On what players impressed him: "I liked the second half, Harry scored the only goal but It's not about indivudal praises in front of TV."

On looking ahead: "We will acclimatise to the humidity and the sun whilst we are here. The most positive thing We can keep training with the whole group because no one is injured. We have no complaints. Tomorrow will be recovery game, then we have two days to prepare for Costa Rica. Then a chunk of players will get more minutes. The Arsenal players are in from today which is good because it gives us energy and quality and then we have another one and a half days off. The we go to Kansas and prepare for Croatia."

England Captain Harry Kane, speaking to ITV on the win against New Zealand: "Yeah a good win it's not easy. The heat is hard, the pitch wasn't great to be honest really hard to play the way that we want to play. But this is why we are here, to adapt to it. In the end we probably could've scored a couple more we know we are here more for preparation than the result."

On his 67 goals: "I think physically, mentally, it's the best shape I have been in in my career. We're going into a tough environment, a tough tournament, I'm excited for it. The World Cup is the biggest tournament of all and I'm looking forward to it getting started really."

On the fan support: "We appreciate all the support, for us to get that much support in this type of game knowing how much it cost, we hope we can repay them well."

You can read into it what you want to but this is just an exercise for Thomas Tuchel to work on a few partnerships and test a few bits out.

England have been here six days, that's no time to acclimatise. Roughly it takes about two weeks to acclimatise and that is roughly when England play Croatia and that is when you want to see them looking sharp.

The most important thing is how they start the tournament. If they win the game against Croatia, nobody care about these two warm-up games.

These players are probably playing at around 60% of their maximum capacity at the moment, they are just feeling their way into this climate and these games.

England midfielder Jude Bellingham, speaking to ITV on how England can play heat at the World Cup: "We are going to have to manage the game well at times. We want to play that full force, high pressing, high tempo football which is difficult in the heat and with the pitches. Both sets of players made a great effort to get out of the game what we had to do before the tournament so we are pleased."

On what he makes of this current squad: "Its a good mix - experience and youth in there and players who haven't come with us before all of that makes for a good mix. we have quality in abundance. Senior players like the skipper, Hendo, Stones and Picks we can go a long way."

On how he feels going into the tournament: "I'm feeling good off the back of a tough season with a couple of injuries for the first time in my career. I feel strong, I feel better than I did at the start of the season. I'm feeling excited and ready."

Kane is the main man and he reminds us every time he plays for England he is the main man. Just like a pre-season game, nice relaxed game for everyone.

It's not the performance that many would have wanted. The most important thing that will come out of this is when we hear from Thomas Tuchel after the match on whether all the players came out unscathed.

Once the players start to adapt to this climate and this weather, we will start to see improved performances from them, we will start to see the players getting sharper.

As a friendly and a build up game to the World Cup that was perfect really - minutes and no injuries.

One thing Thomas Tuchel will certainly be pleased with tonight is that all of his players seem to have come through unscathed.

England's next and final warm up match is on Wednesday against Costa Rica before their World Cup campaign officially gets under way in 11 days time.

I think when you are sitting on the bench watching, they are thinking they've got to better than the first half lot. I think it's easier going first because you're starting from scratch. You're playing a bit of catch-up second half because the opposition are already into the game.

You've got to see it as a training game because I can't see anything more in it than that.

England get the job done. But it was very much like a training game, that, with 22 players getting minutes under their belt.

Rio Ngumoha has probably been England's brightest spark this half. He's not officially going to the World Cup.

Nice bit of play, that, as Reece James clips one into the box for Ivan Toney who can't get it under control and it's a poor effort.

He'll be glad to see the offside flag go up. He should have done better.
