England manager Thomas Tuchel speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "We played a professional second half. We stepped up in urgency, bit of quicker play and better ball speed. We deserved to win the second half. With the red card we became heavy, heavy favourites. A clean sheet is always important, it gives everyone a good feeling. Always things to improve but overall a serious performance and a deserved win."

On Alexander-Arnold's performance: "He did very well. He had an excellent assist. Overall like everyone [he] was professional, top attitude and one decisive action."

On changes for the Croatia game: "I cannot tell you. We have three days which is a big difference to two games. We decided not to travel back to England but to stay in Prague one more night, get some good rest and then travel to Croatia and have two training sessions there. We will push everyone to be available, even Nico O'Reilly and Ezri Konsa hopefully and then we know more. The next match is important for us against a direct opponent and we want to win."

On whether he had to look after Manchester City players Elliot Anderson and Marc Guehi: "I did not. I have a bad conscience now. I did not actually because I am just focused on everything we have to deal with here and to prepare the team. I did not talk to them about the issue and I will not comment on it. I think Marc today was absolutely excellent after a tough match against Spain. The reaction was on the highest level and Elliot Anderson had a good match as well."

England captain Harry Kane speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Job done, it was a professional performance. It wasn't the most exciting game of football but we did what we had to. Won the game, good clean sheet and we take it into the next one.

On the red card: "When a team who likes to defend get a man sent off it becomes every tougher. You have to be patient. Against 10 you have to move it quickly and as they tire the spaces will open up."

On Anthony Gordon: "He's showing that he belongs at the highest level, for Barcelona and England. His performances in the last couple of games have been some of his best that he has played in an England shirt and I think he is just relishing putting the shirt on and being one of the main men in the team. He is an important player for us and he showed that during the World Cup."

On whether the Man City charges have been discussed in camp: "To be honest today I didn't even know the news literally until after the game. I've been off my phone all day. I can't comment on it now. I'm sure in the next days it will be spoken about in a casual way. I always say when we're here we're with England. We have our England head on and those guys [Elliot Anderson and Marc Guehi] will deal with it obviously when they are back. From our point of view it is all about Croatia on Saturday."

People raised eyebrows when Anthony Gordon went to Barcelona for the money that he did and Marcus Rashford came back to Manchester United.

He has become a key part of the England team.

There were certain games in the World Cup where he was substituted and he should have been, I think others should have come off instead of him.

Gordon [when he is] full of confidence running at pace like he does, he can go either way and he's causing full-backs all kind of problems.

Trent Alexander-Arnold speaking to ITV: "I think it was good, they go down to 10 men and then there's more pressure on us to win the game but actually it makes it more difficult, they get very compact and defend. It's very hard to break them down. But we got that early on in the second half which is what we needed."

On his assist: "Yeah I took the hit for sure, I spoke to Ant [Anthony Gordon] at half-time and said if I'm getting in those spaces make sure you get to the back post, you don't expect to get it that fast but it did and it worked.

On playing with Gordon: "It's a great compliment and he's great to play with him. I tried to get the ball and try and see what the best play is and try and play forward and create something. And I was able to get the pass."

On being in the England squad: "Amazing, it's always an honour to represent my country. It's been a long time but I've always beloved I can play for England. That belief has always been there and it was about proving it at club level. The manager gave me a chance, hopefully he is happy with how I played."

Kept the intensity going, very professional and the effort was still there. Deserved victory. Strange to get an early red card, not the best for the team and spectators. It's an awkward one but we kept going, got a win and that's what counts."

On Alexander Arnold's pass for the goal: "Not a lot can convert it. It was an awful lot to do for him. Good pass and good goal."

On Alexander-Arnold and Hall: "Both good. The position in the second half suited Trent more than in the first half. Lewis did excellent on the other side. Well done. Credit to all of them because they deserved and now it is important that we relax and enjoy the evening, do a good recovery and the prepare for Croatia."

England goalscorer Anthony Gordon speaking to ITV: "I think it was good, quite dominant. We should've had more goals in the end, probably enough quality around the final third. A couple of things to work on - we need to be dominant, go for the throat and really put games away."

On Trent Alexander-Arnold: "I make that run time and time again and only a certain number of players have that ability, technique and bravery to be willing to make the mistake trying that pass. That's why he's so good and I've been dying to play with him for that reason.

"He's had his own journey with England. He would've liked to have played more than he has but he's been a great character during this camp, I've really enjoyed being around him."

To his credit, Thomas Tuchel made the change.

He didn't need the two holding defensive midfielders, he brought on Eberechi Eze at half-time and within two minutes of the second half starting they got the goal and from then on they were pushing for the second.

They got the second and when the second went in it was game over and job done.

Routine performance, not to much to analyse in that really.

England

England Midfielder Alex Scott on ITV: "I've learned a lot, my last camp I probably wasn't ready to play. I learned a lot in the summer and I'm definitely ready now. Thanks to all the staff, I'm really grateful."

On today's win: "So special. I grew up watching some of the boys play and now to be a part of the squad and the team - it's a massive honour."

On his own performance: "I think I did OK, I really enjoyed it. It was a great game for me."

On the next games: "Yeah big win today, I think the Spain game the lads did really well, just unfortunately didn't get the win. We've got Saturday and Tuesday to go and hopefully two wins."

Anthony Gordon has scored in both of England's Nations League matches so far.

He's slowly becoming a crucial player for Thomas Tuchel. He attempted four shots in this game, more than any England player tonight or on Saturday.

If there hadn't won this game playing against 10 men, there would have been a huge inquest, there would have been a real big problem and the manager would have had a lot of questions to face.

They were never, ever in trouble.

That will be one of the easiest clean sheets that James Trafford will ever get.

It was a clean sheet that England needed after being so porous in recent contests.

A performance, a result, three points and a clean sheet is all that Thomas Tuchel will focus on.

Two goals for England is great but a clean sheet is also very pleasing for Thomas Tuchel.

Before tonight, his side had conceded 13 goals in their last six matches and kept a clean sheet in just four of their last 13 games.

England have had 67% possession over the last 15 minutes.
