National League club Sutton United say they have rejected an approach from an unnamed League One team for manager Chris Agutter.

The U's appointed Agutter in October 2025 and currently sit 13th in the table.

"The decision reflects the strong relationship between Chris and the club, and our shared belief in the direction we are taking and the ambitions we have set for the future," a Sutton United statement read., external

"Chris remains fully committed to Sutton United, and the club is equally committed to supporting him as we continue building towards our long-term objectives."

Sutton did not say when the approach was made, or for what role, but at the time of Wednesday's statement, there were no managerial vacancies in League One.

Wycombe Wanderers confirmed interim head coach Tom Hounsell as their new permanent manager on Saturday, with Peterborough United appointing Robbie Savage and Bradford City announcing Michael Duff earlier this month.

"I believe in what we're building here at Sutton United," said Agutter, who guided the club to safety last season with two games to spare, having taken over with the side in the bottom four.

"I've had honest conversations with the board about our ambitions, and we're completely aligned on where we want to take this club.

"There's a lot of work ahead, but I remain excited about what we can achieve together."
