That's it for our coverage of a very wet round of County Championship matches.

Only one team - Division Two leaders Durham - emerged victorious, with many sides frustrated by rain over the past four days.

Durham (191pts) have a 40-point lead in the title race, and the promotion race

Kent are second (151) but Northants pulled level on points by taking maximum bonus points from their draw at Wantage Road.

Worcestershire (127) are still in the hunt for promotion and visit Kent on Wednesday but the outside hopes of Middlesex (113) and Derbyshire (110) look over.

Gloucestershire (44) look destined for the wooden spoon with Lancashire, the side they are chasing, on 94.

Notts (148pts) have a four point lead over Somerset (144) with Warwickshire now slightly further back in third (140).

You can throw your cap over Glamorgan (121), Sussex (120), Essex (119) and Yorkshire (117) in the middle of the pack.

Hampshire remain bottom and up against it (86) with Leicestershire also in the drop-zone (102) and Surrey just above the dotted line (105) after their heroics to save the game at Chelmsford.

James Sales hits a single to take Northamptonshire's total to 450 - and that's the signal for handshakes all round.

Sales finishes on 48 not out and the home side take a total of 16 points from the game to Kent's 12 - which leaves the two promotion contenders level on points in the Division Two table.

Feels a little harsh, certainly on Middlesex.

The weather has been hugely impactful this week, it's fair to say.

And Durham managed to squeak a win over Gloucestershire too.

Northamptonshire are edging closer to that magic figure of 450, with four singles from this latest Matt Parkinson over.

James Sales has moved on to 45, with George Bartlett on 23 at the other end.

Northants 440-5 v Kent 345

Plenty of excitement among the close fielders, who thought Matt Parkinson had picked up the wicket of George Bartlett just now.

The ball pitched and turned and Chris Benjamin snapped it up behind the stumps at the second attempt. Bartlett stands his ground, though, and the umpire remains unmoved too.

Then, at the start of the next over, Grant Stewart persuades James Sales to nibble outside off stump - but the ball travels low and too fast for Benjamin, who gets a glove to the ball but can't hold on.

Just two singles from this latest Keith Dudgeon over, one apiece to James Sales and George Bartlett, and Northamptonshire need another 13 to reach that landmark of 450 - the maximum for earning bonus points.

One wicket for Kent ensures they take another bonus point themselves.

We feared it would be so.

12 points to the Pears after their swashbuckling batting point late in the day, 10 for the Red Rose.

Down the track comes James Sales to Matt Parkinson and gets enough on his drive to take it over the head of the cover fielder, earning a couple more runs.

Parkinson's next ball is cut firmly by Sales and reaches the rope - bringing the home side to within 15 runs of that final batting bonus point.

Still one issue to be settled in this round of County Championship games - whether Kent or Northamptonshire will be second in the Division Two table.

George Bartlett is doing his best to ensure it's Northamptonshire - he's just taken on Matt Parkinson and smoked a four over midwicket, followed by six in the same direction.

If the batting side can creep up to 450 without losing another wicket, they'll go above Kent in the standings.

No further play will be possible at Sophia Gardens, so Glamorgan v Hampshire will end in a draw.

Hampshire took three early Glamorgan wickets before the rain came and that spell of bad weather ended any hopes of a win for the visitors.

Keith Dudgeon's got his second wind after taking the wicket of Nathan McSweeney and he spears in a yorker that James Sales only just manages to scoop out.

The South African seamer follows that up with another that George Bartlett also does well to deflect, falling over in his crease in the process.

It's been all about the battle for bonus points today and Kent supporters will be sensing that Dudgeon might just earn them another before the curtain falls on this game.

The players shake hands at Chelmsford and Surrey have produced an excellent batting effort to secure a draw against Essex.

Ben Foakes was the star of the show with a brilliant 120 not out.

Surrey started the day 51-4 and were 92-6 at one stage, but Foakes shared superb partnerships with Adam Thomas (33), Tom Lawes (44) and Rahul Chahar (17 not out) to save the game.

Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed has a chat with the umpires as they leave the field and handshakes soon follow to signal the end of this rain-spoiled draw.

Two days lost to the weather, but Division One leaders Notts have had the best of the other two.

They have added four points today and will take home 13 points in all for the draw, three more than their title rivals.

That light shower developed into something a bit heavier and it means Sussex and Somerset will have to settle for a share of the spoils.

Sussex shade the bonus points, taking 12 to the visitors' 11.

Ethan Bamber looks to go downtown but sends it high into the Edgbaston sky.

Lyndon James does brilliantly to pouch a steepler running back over his head and Fraser Sheat has his first wicket for Notts.
