    Once again England are desperately trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Run a ball. Boundary every over or two. Root is just the man for this. Hopefully someone will stay with him.

    Jeeez, Jos Buttler smoked that to the covers. Buttler has opened up the off side so easily.

    Buttler's theory in 50-over cricket is to try to get to 20 as quickly as you can. Then he feels like the pressure is off him.

    Jos Buttler takes on Dunith Wellalage, slamming the spinner through the covers and then clearing the ropes at long-on.

    11 runs off the over, Wellalage had only conceded 17 from his first four.

    Jos Buttler gets on top of a Dilshan Maduashanka bouncer and pulls the ball out to the mid-wicket boundary.

    Kamindu slides to collect but manages to let the ball through for four - not what you want to be doing in front of the fearsome Western Terrace.

    We've reached the halfway mark - Sri Lanka was 159-1 at this stage.

    You have to play well to score over 300.

    England started well, and they had taken the game from Sri Lanka, but it shows how quickly this game will come back to bite you when you don't respect it.

    Dunith Wellalage sends a peach of a delivery and Jos Buttler is beaten from his first delivery.

    The England wicketkeeper gets going two balls later with a cut into the covers.

    Meanwhile England's WinViz chances have dropped from 75% in the previous over to 63%.

    I have not seen Brook miss a ball like that before, with the way he has been playing.

    Unnecessary from Banton. He’s done the hard work, England have done the hard work and now there’s two new batsmen at the crease. And on a personal level he’s missed out on a statement century there.

    You have got to earn the right again and rebuild the momentum in the team.

    There is plenty of time to build that.

    England were cruising along nicely.

    Banton decided he wanted to run down and hit one into the rugby stand.

    In the end, he missed it quite comfortably.

    Not a great way to end a pretty tidy innings.

    Tom Banton comes down the wicket and has a big waft at Dunith Wellalage, misses by a distance and is stumped by Kusal Mendis.

    He departs for 73, which is his ODI high score.

    Earlier in the over, Joe Root picked-up his first four with a sweep through backward square - he will now have to rebuild alongside new batter Harry Brook.
