Ishan Kishan has to drag himself away, Curran has played brilliantly.

Ishan Kishan went for it, it just got a bit high on him. He had a wristy swat on it but Sam Curran and Will Jacks have dragged it back a bit here.

  4. wicket

    Kishan c & b Curran 1 (Ind 111-3)

    Another toe-ender!

Ishan Kishan tries to pull a short delivery from Sam Curran but the ball judders of the bottom of the bat and comes straight back to the bowler.

The left-armer is having a fantastic day so far.

A topic of discussion among many England fans today is the next Test head coach after Brendan McCullum's dismissal, with Glamorgan's Richard Dawson very much in the frame.

Shorter boundaries can lure batsmen and get into their minds. As a spinner, you can use that to your advantage.

  7. Ind 110-2published at 20 overs

Virat Kohli blocks a delivery from Will Jacks and the ball dribbles just past the stumps.

The India batter is angry with himself for that, punching his bat.

I wonder if we'll see Curran back in the Test side against Pakistan. There's a big Stokes-sized hole in that all-rounder position...

    Dhruv, Cambridge

  9. Ind 105-2published at 19 overs

Only one run for Sam Curran's second over too, a single down to third for Virat Kohli.

  10. Ind 104-2published at 18 overs

Ishan Kishan is the new batter, and he fends away the final delivery of the over.

The India wicketkeeper is back in the side after illness and is batting a bit higher than KL Rahul, his replacement on Tuesday who came in at six.

That's a very soft dismissal of Rohit Sharma. Well done to Jacks, just oddly came around the wicket, even though he wasn't getting smashed around. It went bobbling up into the air - Buttler just had to walk around to take that one.

Invaluable wicket. Rohit played one or two lovely shots but he's not quite found his mojo yet on this tour.

Oh, the simplest of catches for Jos Buttler!

Will Jacks comes on to bowl and, having started over the wicket, he switches to bowling round and picks up the wicket of Rohit Sharma with his second ball from that angle.

Rohit goes to sweep and the ball clips the very toe of his bat, spooning up for Buttler to take having moved from behind the stumps.

Let's not forget that Virat Kohli has never scored a hundred in England, and he won't today either.

    We are in Wales...

  14. Ind 103-1published at 17 overs

A first sight of Sam Curran today, and he starts with a maiden to Rohit Sharma.

The India opener is on 26 from 43 balls, Virat Kohli is on 35 from 29.

Cheer up Michael (14:10), we just thumped India in the T20 series. England fans need to stop finding every excuse to be pessimistic and start being optimistic about what our potential is!

    Guy in Nairobi

Michael obviously didn't see the Craig Overton Yorkshire miracle last night. A game of cricket is never over this early on. Typical doom and gloom English fan.

    Connor, Bristol

  16. Ind 103-1published at 16 overs

    Over Gus Atkinson's head!

Virat Kohli drives into the ground and the ball bounces over the England seamer, who flails at the ball while coming up from his follow-through but can't stop the ball going for four.

Prior to that, his opening ball clipped Rohit Sharma on the pad and raced away for a leg-byes boundary.

It's fascinating watching these Indian masters play spin. They've been around for a long time and you barely see them hit a reverse sweep or a paddle.

It's already looking like yet another loss. Should we start to focus on the 2031 World Cup? Such a sad state of affairs for cricket in this country with nothing positive for genuine fans to get excited about and nothing changing at the ECB.

    Michael, Herts

  19. Ind 91-1published at 15 overs

    Swept hard!

Virat Kohli drops to one knee and slams Adil Rashid to the mid-wicket boundary.

His fifth four of the innings.

    Kieran Parmley
    CricViz analyst

Rohit Sharma has an exceptional record hitting sixes with the pull shot against pace in ODI cricket, so much so that he's hit more sixes (105 sixes) than faced dot balls (94 dots) when playing that shot across his career.
