Bowling just his third over in the powerplay, Sam Curran has picked up his second wicket in this phase in this series while going at 10.4 runs per over.

It's so hard to contain the run rate on this pitch as the fielding team.

India are ahead of where England were in the powerplay!

  3. Ind 65-2published at 6 overs

Shreyas Iyer wastes no time, powering it back over Sam Curran's head for four, followed by an edgy pull for four more.

India need 193 runs in 85 balls.

Sanju Samson does not move his feet, extends his hands, and is not in a position to play that shot. That's the length Josh Tongue should be bowling.

Sam Curran gets a wicket first ball! That's the problem from India when you chasing such a big score you have to keep playing shots.

Sam Curran with a wicket from his first ball.

Again, a cheap dismissal from India's perspective as a stationary Sanju Samson chips it straight to Tom Bethell at cover.

India would have taken this start - 11 an over. So far this has been smart cricket which we haven't seen in this series.

  8. Ind 55-1published at 5 overs

Ishan Kishan plays a delightful late cut for another boundary.

A mixed bag from Josh Tongue - three dot balls but 12 runs conceded.

Catching success in this series England:

    • 87.5% (3 drops)
    • India: 72.2% (5 drops) - three of the five are from today
  10. Ind 51-1published at 4.4 overs

An athletic diving stop from Phil Salt saves a boundary at deep square-leg.

But there is no stopping this. Ishan Kishan pulls a leg-side delivery over the fine-leg boundary for six.

India's 50 is up. They're keeping up with the rate.

In India the reaction to this series has not been good. There's been criticism for the players and support staff as well. Playing in England is a big series and there's a lot of people watching.

  12. Ind 43-1published at 4 overs

Almost! Sanju Samson slices it towards Sam Curran at backward point and it falls just short.

Samson gets underneath a fuller delivery and toe-ends it down the ground for four more.

    Ten from the over.

What a ball! Jofra Archer got me into cricket at the age of five so amazing to see!!

    Leonidas, Gloucester

Scoreboard pressure is going to tell, for this India team. Crazy stuff!

Re: Chetan at 17:12. Even if India do chase this down it certainly won’t be easy. Just based on basic maths it is never easy to chase that big a total

  14. Ind 38-1published at 2.3 overs

England turn to spin early on as Will Jacks is introduced.

Jacks bowls on the legs and Ishan Kishan sweeps him for four.

    Target 258

Back-to-back boundaries. India's batters have no time to settle in.

Ishan Kishan opens the face of his bat and guides it up and over gully for a one-bounce four. The next ball, Kishan is on his toes and slashes it through backward point.

A nothing shot from Abhishek Sharma. He was looking to kind of guide it to third to a single but gets the faintest of edges. This isn't him, because he has a lovely swing up and down. But it feels a lot bowlers have figured him out.

Jofra Archer strikes! And you have to say, Abhishek Sharma gives his wicket away.

It's a short delivery and wide enough for Abhishek to send it through the covers, but the India opener plays tentatively and edges it into Jos Buttler's gloves.

    Archer is grinning.

Superb batting by Jos 'the boss' Buttler and Harry 'wizard' Brook.

    Chetan, Bolton

India will chase this easily. Road.

    Ryan, Doncaster

Seem to remember a few days ago somebody saying we were watching Jos Buttler’s England career come to its end… what you saying now?
