Summary

Have your say on England women this summer

  1. Ind 137-3published at 30 overs

Smriti Mandhana comes down the track to Sophie Ecclestone's next delivery, chipping with the bottom of the bat into the off side.

The ball plugs just short of the rope and India's batters run two.

If she did look guilty, she's done a Jos Buttler.

  3. Not outpublished at 29.2 overs

    Ind 131-3

    Nothing there, it seems.

There was definitely a touch on the pads but seemingly not on the bat.

Smriti Mandhana's body language was a bit guilty.

A feather down the leg side?

Smriti Mandhana tries to follow Sophie Ecclestone's delivery down the leg side and Amy Jones gathers.

The England fielders discuss whether there was a bit of bat on that, and ultimately decide to take a look.

  6. How's stat?!published at 13:57 BST

The Lord's wicket is behaving as expected with regards to bounce and carry, or lack of.

There is obviously no previous data for the women's red-ball game at this ground, but it has been a talking point in the men's game over the last two summers.

The average height for the ball passing the stumps off a seamer's good length today has been 63cm. This is the lowest of any women's Test match at any ground where ball-tracking data is available.

  7. Ind 131-3published at 29 overs

Lauren Bell's ball is a little too full and Harmanpreet Kaur unfurls a classic drive, sending the ball away to the cover boundary.

That's four, and the only scoring shot of the over.

25 overs in the first two hours, that's shocking. They're supposed to bowl 100 overs a day, so they should have bowled 34 overs by lunch.

I don’t know who has the worst over rate, the men or the women.

    Troedyrhiw, Merthyr

  9. Ind 127-3published at 28 overs

India scored 19 boundaries, all bar one fours, in the first session.

They haven't got one yet in this session, with a couple of singles coming off this Sophie Ecclestone over.

  10. Ind 125-3published at 27 overs

Smriti Mandhana pushes Lauren Bell's first ball towards point for a single, before Harmanpreet Kaur faces the remainder of the over without scoring.

India are easing their way back into the session.

Bell has figures of 1-36, so her economy rate is exactly six runs an over.

It is tough for players who are only used to playing a maximum of 50 overs to be out there all day.

  12. Ind 124-3published at 26 overs

A couple of singles come off the start of Sophie Ecclestone's over, before the spinner reels out four dot balls.

  13. Postpublished at 13:43 BST

We're about to get going again.

India resume on 122-3 after 25 overs, with Smriti Mandhana on 56 and Harmanpreet Kaur on 14.

Each of England's seamers picked-up a wicket in the morning session, with Issy Wong the last to do so.

Jemimah Rodrigues looked in good touch, but sent a big inside-edge onto her stumps having reached 35.

I love TMS coverage of the woman's game but can't listen at work. Why does the BBC sports app update me every time there is wicket or innings end for all the men's formats but none of the women's?

    Karen, Birmingham

You'll be wanting to sign-up to updates from the women's team, Karen - sounds like you're just subscribed for the men at present.

For anyone who's interested - within the BBC Sport app, go on our cricket page and then choose the England women index in the top menu. Hit the bell icon at the top of that page and pick which notifications you want to sign-up for.

I’m not surprised that the England bowlers have struggled with their line and length. Women’s cricket needs more tests and a three-day county/other team format so that female bowlers are used to attacking the batters to get them out. It’s a bit easier for batters to adjust.

    Rich, Bristol

Would love to see the women play some domestic two or three-day games. Fantastic women’s WC has left us expecting a bit more quality from England.

This being the first women's Test at Lord's, today is going to be a day of firsts.

Here's how the first wicket fell, with Shafali Verma edging Lauren Filer's delivery to Amy Jones in the second over.

It feels really well poised. India got off to a flyer, England haven't bowled as well as they'd liked. No one has backed up Sophie Ecclestone. You want one of the seamers to come out and just hammer that line and length.

The run rate is just under five runs an over, India will be very happy with that. This partnership of Mandhana and Harpreet is really important for them.
