I don't think this is a bad thing for England. If they'd bowled Pakistan out for 150, they'd have been delighted. But, when you're developing a team and trying to get back on track to being one of the best, you need tough days and need moments where you question yourself. Did we do it right? What could we have done differently? They should be asking those questions.

Test cricket is called Test cricket for a reason, it's a test and they were tested today.

Marcus Trescothick speaking to BBC Test Match Special: "I think you're just trying to come up with plans. Different variations of options for spinners, for seamers over the wicket, around the wicket, bumpers, slower balls, all the different things you try and put in place when partnerships like that get going.

"We got the ball in the right place occasionally and we probably could have maybe got it a little bit more, but they just kept missing it and when we missed our mark, or missed our areas, the young lad belted it, so fair play."

England are bad at bowling to the tail. Apart from Josh Tongue, who's got a really good yorker which we didn't see, England don't bowl well against the tail.

We have to say that we shouldn't be surprised by England. They've delivered tactically like this on a regular basis.

I think they'll win this game but they can't keep making mistakes like that. When Dan Lawrence bowled the new ball after only bowling one over, but you've got someone standing there who averaged seven. They have to be quick enough to adapt.

The basics of Test cricket generally work and that's to hit the top of the stumps. It's a bit of a warning sign that this attack is very good but they aren't the finished article just yet.

Razaullah has absolutely lit up the show. This is the attitude that was needed.

Someone with a strong body language and who believes in himself. They'll want him playing all formats because he's a natural, mind, body language and attitude.

England's tactics were appalling. You cannot and should not bowl like that to tailenders as soon as they come in. It looked to me that England didn't even try to bowl them out to start with which is just wrong. You have to set the tone when you're bowling against tailenders. Yes, you bowl aggressively, but in a controlled way. They are numbers nine and 10 for a reason. It was bitterly disappointing.

Dan Lawrence broke a partnership early in the day, didn't see him again. He's a part time off-spinner and he took the second new ball. If you're looking for any aspect of the day that is utterly bonkers, that is it

"I just had to bat," he says. "You were the ones who enjoyed it."

"I was planning to take it long and deep. They bowled in the slot so I was eyeing it up. This is just a journey at the start.

"I am enjoying it thoroughly. There was no point I was scared."

That was an incredible innings form Razaullah. He brought Edgbaston alive when he bowled. His batting was absolutely incredible. He just times it magnificently, enormous sixes. He kept going, extremely confident and he really is a cricketer for the future.
