A statement has been read out on behalf of Emma Hamilton, from the Dogs Trust charity.
It reads: "We care deeply about every donation, so knowing there could be people out there who felt hurt by our lack of response is truly upsetting for us."
She says as a result of this, they "could have lost out on future donations" which are "valuable" to the charity.
Prosecutors earlier said donations collected at funerals were never passed on to the intended charities.
