    *Mertens 0-1 Rybakina

We're under way on Court One and it's a strong start from Elena Rybakina.

Elise Mertens shows what she can do with a superb backhand return winner but Rybakina's serving is otherwise spot on as the Kazakhstani second seed holds to 15.

Arthur Fery may be the one British representation in the singles, but there is still plenty in the doubles to keep an eye on.

There has been an early upset in the mixed doubles already today, withBritain's Julian Cash and his Dutch partner Demi Schuurs, who are the fifth seeds, being knocked out in the first round by fellow Brit Joe Salisbury and his Canadian partner Leyla Fernandez.

Salisbury and Fernandez took the first set 7-5 in the tie-break, before breaking in the seventh game of the second and serving it out to complete a straight-set victory.

Still to come in the mixed doubles on Saturday for home fans, the British duo of David Stevenson and Jodie Burrage will be taking on top seeds Andrea Vavassori and Sara Errani of Italy on court 14.

An all-British tie between Ben Jones and Maia Lumsden and Joshua Paris and Eden Silva is due to take place on court 15, while Billy Harris and Freya Christie will be taking on Brit Neal Skupski and his American partner Desirae Krawczyk later on court 16.

Opening the action on the show courts today is former champion Elena Rybakina taking on Elise Mertens on Court One.

Kazakhstani second seed Rybakina started the year off in fine form by winning the Australian Open but has found the grass court season tricky, winning three and losing two of her matches on the surface.

Belgian 25th seed Mertens is yet to win a title in 2026 but is always a threat at Grand Slams.

The pair have met eight times, with Rybakina winning seven, but this is their first meeting on grass.

Well isn't that just the burning question?

We are hoping to see the iconic Serena and Venus Williams pair up in the women's doubles against Colombia's Camila Osorio and Argentina's Solana Sierra.

But there is doubt over whether the match will take place after Serena sustained a knee injury when losing in her singles comeback on Wednesday.

Organisers are yet to make an official announcement and are so far yet to assign a court but have said it won't take place before 16:30 BST if it does go ahead.

We'll let you know as soon as we get any updates.
