Chesterfield have signed midfielder George McEachran on a free transfer following his departure from fellow League Two side Grimsby Town.

The 25-year-old made 92 appearances in all competitions across two seasons with the Mariners but left the club after failing to agree terms on a new deal.

McEachran, who started his career in the Chelsea academy before joining Swindon Town in 2023, has signed a two-year contract with the Spireites.

He was a member of the England Under-17 World Cup-winning squad in 2017 and is Chesterfield's second signing of the summer following the arrival of defender Junior Eccleston.

"The club has a clear ambition to achieve promotion to League One," McEachran told the club website.

"I fell short of promotion with Grimsby last season, as Chesterfield did, so hopefully we can go one step further and get promoted this year."

Chesterfield finished sixth in League Two last season and lost to Notts County in the play-off semi-final.
