Shrewsbury Town have signed midfielder Jay Turner-Cooke from National League club Halifax Town.

The 22-year-old scored five goals in 39 appearances for the Shaymen last season.

It was his only campaign with Halifax, having joined them in the summer of 2025 after being released by Newcastle United.

Shrewsbury manager Gavin Cowan said Turner-Cooke, who has signed a two-year deal with the option of a third, was a highly sought-after transfer target this summer.

"Jay is a player I've monitored for some time, both during his time at Newcastle and more recently at Halifax," Cowan told the club website., external

"He is a high-level performer. He's not come here simply to compete – Jay has come here because he wants to dominate at the level."
