Sheffield United midfielder Jairo Riedewald has signed a new one-year deal, six weeks after the club announced they had released him.

The 29-year-old former Netherlands international scored twice in 26 appearances for the Blades after joining in October.

His previous deal with the Championship club expired on Tuesday.

"I have to say the board have been great. They knew I wanted Jairo here and made it possible for the dialogue to continue and thankfully patience has paid off on both sides," boss Chris Wilder told the club website., external

"It has just taken a little longer to get there but we're all thrilled he's staying with us."

The club have the option of an extra 12 months on the former Crystal Palace man's deal.
