No surprises in the final inning and the Yankees win this one 16-1.

Strange to think this game was scoreless up to the fifth inning. After that the Red Sox fell apart and the Yankees were ruthless against their old enemy.

These sides could well meet again in the American League Wild Card at the start of the play-offs.

Will the Red Sox have any psychological damage after that emphatic defeat?

The Red Sox have put position player Andruw Monasterio in to pitch this inning and he has given away eight runs, which arguably is not good at all for the game.

This is now a complete no contest as Austin Wells adds another home run to make it 16-1 to the Yankees.

Monasterio finally gets out of the inning but this is a painful one for the Red Sox against their old rivals.

They are down to their final three outs. Somehow I don't think they are coming back in this one.

How bad might this get for the Red Sox?

Jose Caballero smashes a three-run home run to left field to make it 14-1 after Spencer Jones scored on a sacrifice fly from Trent Grisham.

Suddenly the Yankees have double figures!

First Austin Wells smashes a two-run home run to right field with Jazz Chisholm Jr. also scoring.

Then on the next pitch Paul Goldschmidt repeats the trick, hitting a home run of his own to a very similar spot among the delighted Yankees fans.

This is quite ugly now for the Red Sox. The Yankees fans are loud.

The Red Sox are finally on the board at the top of the eighth.

After Trevor Story leads off with a double, Nick Sogard delivers with a single to right field and Story scores from second base.

That's the end of the game for Yankees starting pitcher Will Warren. He'll be disappointed to give up a run in the end but he's done an excellent job getting his side into a winning position.

Not for the first time this afternoon the Yankees hit right between short stop and second base and the Red Sox can't close the gap to make a play.

This time it is Amed Rosario with the RBI single and Spencer Jones who scores after being brought into the game for Heliot Ramos.

The Red Sox were very much in the game up to the fifth inning but the Yankees have stepped up massively since then.

The Yankees take further control with a sixth run in the sixth inning.

Austin Wells gets the job done with a sacrifice fly-ball that allows Jose Caballero to easily score from third base.

That makes it 6-0 at Yankee Stadium.

And now the Yankees have some serious momentum.

Heliot Ramos tees off on a loose pitch from Suarez and launches a fly ball to left field for a home run.

That brings home Goldschmidt and Cody Bellinger and makes it 5-0 in the Bronx.

Red Sox fans will be going back to that Rafaela play because it has undoubtedly changed the direction of this game.

But the Yankees have been ruthless throughout this inning.

And the Yankees take full advantage and have the lead!

Paul Goldschmidt works a ground ball past Ranger Suarez and through the middle between short stop and second base.

Jose Caballero scores from third base and Jazz Chisholm Jr. makes it home from second.

That makes it 2-0 to the Yankees. That play by Cedanne Rafaela looks even more controversial now.

This could be a big moment in the fifth inning with the game still scoreless.

Ceddanne Rafaela chases down a line drive from Jazz Chisholm Jr. and dives full length to try and make the catch.

The umpire's say he just missed it but the replays look like he may have pulled it off so the Red Sox challenge the play.

In the end the challenge is unsuccessful and that means the Yankees now have players on first and second base with no outs.

Through three innings at Yankee Stadium and we are yet to see either side score.

The Yankees and Red Sox finished off with just one run between them on Friday when the Yankees scored early in the opening game of the series.

Let's hope this is just a slow start - we want home runs!

The Yankees have won two of the first three games in this crucial final series between the two sides in the regular season.

Last night the Yankees ran out 9-2 winners as they ran in five runs in the eighth inning to close out victory.

Earlier in the day the Red Sox had closed out an impressive 6-0 victory to square up the series after the Yankees won the opener on Friday night 1-0.

So the Yankees will be eager to close out a 3-1 series win today while the Red Sox will be desperate to avoid defeat.

Tonight we have the big one as the Boston Red Sox finish off a four-game series with old rivals the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

For more than a hundred years there has been more than enough enmity between these two big city rivals and as we approach the final month of the season with the race for the play-offs building nicely, this one really matters.

The first pitch is coming up around 18:35 BST.
