Para-racer Woods wins second track gold for Scotland

On Wednesday night, Melanie Woods had her first Commonwealth Games medal taken away from her.

But Saturday night, she had two around her neck. Both of them were gold.

The 31-year-old won the women's 1500m T54 on Wednesday, then again on Friday, after it was decided the race should be restaged after an accident.

And she backed that up in her home city by romping to victory in the 400m in a season's best time of 56.43 seconds.

"That was the best one yet," she told BBC Sport Scotland, wryly. "I think I was really able to absorb the crowd and appreciate that lap of honour and everyone that's here to support me.

"Looking up at the crowd and seeing how many people had showed up and were screaming my name... that was a pretty special moment.

"I think the emotions were really coming to the surface tonight. I was actually just reflecting on what a week it's been. It's been so up and down. There's been so many emotions and I think it'll take me a few days to, for that to sink in."
