Football Extra's Dream Signings: Sunderland

Guela Doue is the older brother of Paris St-Germain and France international Desire

It's staggering to think that Sunderland qualified for Europe just a year after scraping through the Championship play-offs. But it was certainly no fluke.
The Black Cats were solid all season long, largely thanks to a settled and solid back line featuring the outstanding Nordi Mukiele and Robin Roefs in goal.
However, they'll be weakened next season by the departure of loanee Lutsharel Geertruida back to his parent club Leipzig. The Dutchman offered versatility across the defence and even played in midfield on occasion.
Heading into a campaign that could see them play as many as 60 games, they'll need someone of a similar mould who can cover a few positions while maintaining a high level of performance.
Doue, the older brother of Paris St-Germain's two-time Champions League winner Desire, could be that guy,
The 23-year-old is a natural right-back, which is an area that probably most needs strengthening in spite of how well Trai Hume has performed, though Doue can also play in central defence.
He picked up six assists and scored twice in just 24 games for Strasbourg last season, a handy return from the back line.
Doue is thought to be available too with the likes of Everton, AC Milan, Newcastle and Aston Villa all linked already this summer. It speaks to Sunderland's progress that they would now be a genuine contender for his signature.
