French container ship reportedly passes through Strait of Hormuz

World Business Express

Available for over a year

Several sources are reporting that a French-owned container ship has successfully braved the troubled Strait of Hormuz. The CMA CGM Kribi is believed to be the first western vessel to pass through the passage since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war against Iran. It is reported to have passed close to the coast of Iran. It comes as Iran carried out two attacks on commercial plants in Kuwait . The first attack was on one of the biggest oil refineries in the Middle East. The second at a power and desalination plant. In a third incident, in Abu Dhabi, operations had to be suspended at a gas facility when debris fell on to the site causing a fire. Also in the programme we report on better-than-expected jobs news for the US. And we hear from a trade expert who examines President Trump’s latest tariff announcements of up to 100% on some imported medicines. And why the price of chocolate is remaining stubbornly high, despite the price of cocoa - the raw material that makes it - falling by 70% over the last two years. Presenter: Gideon Long Senior producer: Craig Henderson
