Earlier this week, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage stood down as the MP for Clacton - before announcing his candidacy in the subsequent by-election. It's framed by him as an election for "the people versus the Establishment". Farage has been under investigation by the Parliament's standards commissioner since May after not declaring a £5m gift he received from a billionaire Reform donor before he became an MP. He says the "people of Clacton should be the judge of my actions" and denies any wrongdoing.
