SHERELLE takes us to some of the most exciting clubs of the 1990s to see how the scene and its music morphed and flourished as attitudes to sexuality, race, gender and music changed. We meet legendary DJ Fat Tony and clubber Mark, who recall the music and hedonism of Trade, the UK’s first legal, all-night, after-hours club where gay icon Cher was allegedly refused entry. Former resident DJ Kath McDermott takes us to Flesh at Manchester’s Haçienda, a club that laid the foundation for the city's famous Gay Village and spawned nights including Homoelectric and now Homobloc. DJ Ritu, co-founder of trailblazing Club Kali, invites us into the pioneering club night that’s been providing a safe, celebratory space for South Asian LGBTQIA+ people for 30 years.
