Key Changes: Radio 3's Essential History of Classical Music

1722, Köthen. Bach rethinks tuning, and expands the possibilities of music.

Tom Service provides the ideal soundtrack for Saturday morning, with the best classical music, in new and landmark recordings, and one or two surprise guests introducing their own releases. On this semiquincentennial Independence Day, American pianist Simone Dinnerstein joins Tom to play live in the studio and talk about her love of the music of fellow American Philip Glass. There's more live music from the four trombones of Slide Action, showcasing their unique mix of new commissions and arrangements. And in his ongoing series, Tom meets another Creator, with the lowdown on the processes behind producing a memorable piece of work. This week the multifaceted musical adventurer Jacob Collier joins Tom to reflect on ten years since he released 'In My Room': the debut album recorded in his music room at the family home in North London.
