Sometimes you might notice a programme is cut short before it’s supposed to end or at the beginning. We use the advertised schedule to automatically add programmes into BBC Sounds to make them available as quickly as possible. Occasionally, however, schedules can change slightly (especially as some programmes overrun) which means we might miss the very beginning or very end of a programme.
We do understand this can be frustrating so to help combat this we add two minutes to the end of every on-demand programme which helps most of the time. However, should a programme you are listening to end abruptly or begin partway through the programme, try playing the following or previous programme broadcast on that station. You can find this out using the schedules.
If you’re interested, you can read all about this and the problems we face in delivering programmes in the BBC Internet Blog by Jim Simmons, Senior Product Manager.
This mainly affects programmes that have recently been broadcast as we’ll correct any issues within the first few hours of them becoming available.
