16:00 – 17:45 // In the studio next is Newsbeat

At Radio 1's Big Weekend 2011 we are testing a new mobile feature that allows the audience to say "I'm here now" to their friends while watching their favourite artists throughout the day. To get involved, you'll need to be at the event and have a Facebook account.
This is a simple, new way of letting your friends know what you are doing throughout the day. Prove you were there, and stamp your pride on your Facebook profile! By taking part you will be helping BBC Radio 1 with it's first ever use of this type of technology. If it's successful we might make it available at many events or gigs in the future, so it's down to you to get involved. Radio 1 needs you!
It's an experiment exclusively for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend attendees. Smartphone users with Facebook accounts can check into performances at the event and update their friends. You can share what stage you're at, who you're listening to and what you think of the performance.
You need to be at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Carlisle. Find your stage and click 'I'm here!' Then check into a performance by pressing the big pink 'Check in here' button on an artist's page. The first time you check in, you will be asked to verify your location and log into Facebook.
Your location and comments will appear in your Facebook news feed. Customise your Facebook privacy settings to decide how and with whom you share this information. The BBC will only show the number of people who have checked into a performance, we will not be holding any personal data. Facebook is wholly responsible for this data, please check their terms and conditions
If you have Facebook Places enabled, friends at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend can check you into a performance. Default settings for our site mean the information will only appear to your Facebook friends. Customise your Facebook privacy settings to decide how and with whom you share location information.
You will need to set up a Facebook account if you don't already have one and want to join in.
For this experiment, the BBC is only working with Facebook, as our research has shown that this is the most popular amongst Radio 1's audiences. However, you may be able to use other services to check in to the event generally.
Increasing numbers of smartphone users engage with location based technology. We want to get a better idea of how the BBC might use this type of technology to enhance your experience of similar events.
It's available on as many smartphones as possible (see full list below). All other internet-enabled devices will be able to access our Radio 1 Big Weekend site.
Devices: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, Sony Ericsson X10, Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy S, HTC Desire, Desire HD and Nexus One, and any phones using Android 2.1 operating system and above (excluding tablets and small-screen devices such as Samsung Galaxy Mini, Sony Experia X10 Mini and HTC Wildfire).
No. This experimental service uses web-browser technology so you don't need to download anything to take part.
Yes, as long as you are able to access the internet. If you're not sure how to do this or are concerned about costs, please contact your mobile network operator.
The BBC won't charge you to access mobile content. However, your operator may charge you for the amount of data you use. If you're unsure how much data costs on your tariff, contact your network operator.
