Textile Designer Sarah Campbell: ‘My most memorable night out was when I was 5!’
This Listed Londoner was lucky enough to attend a momentous festival at a young age.
Alongside her sister Susan Collier, she helped revolutionise the industry in the 1960s with a distinctive style that was bold, colourful and unmistakably hand-painted.
Their designs first caught the attention of Liberty, and the sisters went on to create patterns for some of the biggest names on the high street, including Habitat under Terence Conran, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Jaeger.
Now in her 80s Sarah continues to work independently from her studio in London, alongside writing and tutoring. In 2026, a major exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum is celebrating the remarkable story of her continuing creative career.
