Unbeaten team backed by Turkmenistan regime wins league
FC Arkadag, a football team in Turkmenistan, has made a stunning debut in the country's top league, winning the national championship in its first season.
Based in a city of the same name, newly founded by Turkmenistan's former authoritarian leader, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, it claims most of the national team in its ranks.
Farrah Yusupov, director of the Turkmen Service for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, told Newshour's Tim Franks about how the team had achieved its success.
