Shadow health secretary: NHS on path to privatisation
Shadow health secretary Andy Burnham discusses the future of the NHS following claims in Labour's election campaign that 'The NHS will not survive another five years of Conservative government'.
Andy Burnham tells John Humphrys the "NHS is on a path towards privatisation and marketisation" with UK hospitals at risk of becoming more like the US system with mixed private and non-private patients creating an elite system.
Asked if he really believes Labour's election claim about the future of the NHS Andy Burnham said: "It's my view that if NHS carries on with experimentation of the market it will destroy everything that is precious."
