In Bristol, Caroline visits the Martin Parr Foundation to view a genre-defining exhibition by the late photographer Martin Parr CBE. It’s 40 years since Parr produced his iconic collection of images of working-class family holidays in the Merseyside resort of New Brighton. Parr’s radical style broke away from the professional black-and-white photography of the time, earning him both praise and criticism for his colour-rich images.

Aiming to snap up bargains of their own in Warwickshire are two teams of family and friends. In red are pals and amateur actors David and Shawn with antiques expert David Fergus, and in blue are father and daughter-in-law Ollie and Perdie with their expert Thomas Forrester.

With an hour to shop, the reds wonder if they’ll squeeze out a profit with a wooden juicer, while the blues decide whether a 1970s first-aid kit will remedy their challenge. In the saleroom, there are ups and downs for both teams until the bidders take a shine to one particular polished purchase.
