A total of 91 people were killed in accidents on Wales’s roads last year, according to figures released by the Department of Transport. The figure represents a slight increase from the 84 fatalities recorded in 2024. Richard Holden MP, the shadow transport secretary, has suggested the figures represent a failure of blanket 20mph zones. He has called for 20mph zones to be limited to specific areas, such as outside schools and nurseries. 96 road deaths were recorded in Wales in 2022, the last full year before the default 20mph speed limit was introduced. Pro Ref – the body which oversees professional referees - has admitted an "error of judgement" in awarding Erling Haaland's winner for Manchester City against Manchester United.

And Welsh actor Matthew Rhys has made history at the Emmy Awards, by becoming the first person to win two lead acting prizes in one night. The actor from Cardiff picked up awards for roles in the supernatural TV comedy Widow's Bay, and the psychological thriller The Beast In Me. Why do you think Wales develops so many great actors?
