Swamp Dogg and Eli Paperboy Reed are guests on the show, bringing together two generations of American soul.

Swamp Dogg’s remarkable career stretches back more than 70 years. He’s written and produced for the likes of Doris Duke, Irma Thomas and Gary U.S. Bonds, alongside a wonderfully unpredictable catalogue of his own that has taken in soul, R&B, country and plenty more along the way. Eli Paperboy Reed has gospel in his bones and a voice that stopped Swamp Dogg in his tracks when the pair first met on tour in Spain. That meeting began a friendship that has lasted more than a decade and now, for the first time, brought them together in the studio.

Swamp Dogg produced Eli’s new album Getting There, a record about what happens after the first rush of romance, and the work, commitment and humour involved in staying in love. Craig hears how their friendship became a musical partnership, what they’ve learned from each other and why Swamp Dogg decided to step back into the producer’s chair.
We’ll also hear about Swamp Dogg’s 31st studio album, Swamp Dogg Contemplates The Afterlife, which finds the 84-year-old turning his attention to mortality, spirituality and the musical heroes who went before him.
